Default 2.0 Compact models "gap"

My LGS has both the 3.6 & 4" new Compacts on some kinda special they say S&W is running for $429; and I want one. Problem is both have significant "gap" between the bottom of the grip's frontstrap and the magazine's baseplate. Can see the metal magazine easily. Others I've seen here and online appear to show a tight fit. No pic to show them but has anyone noticed this significant gap between the grip and magazine?

Thought the compact was 15 round but could also hold the 17, maybe it is missing the extension spacer for the 17 round that is in the gun? The spacer fills the gap.

Maybe .080"/2mm. Greatest gap at the frontstrap.

Hard to see with the shadow at the area in question. Could you turn where the light is at the frontstrap and magazine baseplate?
