Should I?
Been thinking about a Shield. Sportsmans Warehouse has them on sale, 9x19, Shield 2.0 with safety and Crimson Trace laser for $349. Don't really want the safety or the laser but the price seems pretty good.

Can you remove the laser and sell/dispose of it to get some of your money back? If so, and if you can live with the safety, why not? For my own purposes, I like the thumb safety and I would prefer a Shield .45, FWIW.

Safety delete is pretty easy too for an armorer. If the 5” 2.0 with safety had been cheaper than the no safety, I would have bought and deleted.

Bought a Shield 2.0 no laser a bit back for $287.99 shipped. Just keep watching prices and you will find one without a laser and no safety for the price you want.
Depending on your holster of choice, the laser may make it more difficult to find a holster.
I did not want the integral laser for that reason, as well as a few others reasons.

Sportsmans Outdoor Warehouse is a good place to do business with in my experience. Keep watching their site and you'll find what you want in time, and the price should be pretty good.

Yes, you should. I have two Shields, one in .40 & one in 9mm, but both are the first generation. Anyways, both have the safety, which is easy to sweep off with the thumb, and are the best carry guns I have.
Their quality is superb, and they have never had nary a hiccup on the range.

DON'T BE PUSHED BY PRICE, INTO A PISTOL THAT YOU DON'T WANT....
EXERCISE SOME VIGILANCE, AND PATIENCE, AND YOU WILL EVENTUALLY FIND JUST THE BARE BONES MODEL THAT YOU DESIRE, AT A BARGAIN PRICE......

YAA!!!!!! WHAT HE SAID!!!!!!!!!!
Be patient and don't fall in love with the idea of something such that you will "settle". Deals always come and go.

No. Laser is integrated into the frame.

My thoughts EXACTLY! I do have a Shield 9, but really want to add a 45.

I too have the Shield 9mm and also 40 S&W. Neither has the laser, both are carry guns, didn't see a need for a laser on a carry gun. Very reliable firearms, no problems with either.

I like the safety on my shield. It's pretty positive and I don't think it could get accidentally engaged. The only thing I use the safety for is if I holster it in my IWB holster while wearing the holster. I'll then engage the safety to holster and then immediately disengage it. I don't carry it with the safety engaged but I do like it a lot for that one purpose.
