Default Shield 45 question

I have around 3,000 rounds through this pistol, it has functioned almost flawlessly, I don’t remember the last time is failed... what is causing this mark and should I be concerned?

3000 rounds is a lot of 45 in a compact pistol. I haven’t looked at mine that closely, but I’d say it’s normal wear on the moving parts...keep it lubed and keep an eye on it.

Normal wear. As said. Lube and keep on shooting.

Ya it’s kind of odd, I know this pistol in and out... and this mark/nib was never there before... the last time I took it to the range, I ran it pretty fast and hard... stripped and cleaned it right when I got home and that’s when I saw it...

Looks like some powder burn, seems to be on both sides in the same spot. Unless you have wiped this gun down the slide areas also look dry as if they need some lube.
I have been impressed with my Shield 45 since day 1!

These photos were pre-lube... I was trying to get a clear photo of the actual spot in question. And yes my shield has been fabulous also, I seriously don’t remember more than one malfunction and that was maybe the second time I shot it... this gun always comes back to me.. I love third generation S&W and I carried some of them on and off... but my shield 45 ends up on my hip most days.

Probably normal, Wouldn't hurt to contact S@W with your pictures just to make sure. If you do, let us know their answer.
