Picked Up New .45 ACP 2.0 Compact Today
Probably should not have been, but quite surprised at its dimensions.
Slightly over half an inch shorter in the slide than full-sized, same height & magazines.
I was expecting more of a "compact".

I agree, its way too big. So is the new 9mm as well. They should have made a new 9c in the exact same size. Not everyone wants a full size grip for a compact carry.
For example my XD9 Mod.2 Sub compact is perfect, in my opinion, in size for OWB carry and short stints of IWB.
My P365 goes in my pocket every single day.

I have a 1.0 45C and it's right sized at a 1/2" shorter in both directions than it's FS counterpart. I just don't get what S&W was trying to accomplish by making 2.0 compacts " less compact."
In a carry gun, a shorter grips helps with concealment while a 1/2" of barrel doesn't.

M&P 9mm 3.6 compact is perfectly-sized IMHO.

They're watching Glock. The new 19X and Glock 45 both have full size grips and compact slides. It only follows you would follow your competitors in order to get a piece of that pie.

The M&P 45 2.0 compact is what the 1.0 referred to as the midsize. Same mag capacity (10+1) as the full size, shorter barrel. The original 45C had the shorter barrel and 8+1 mag capacity and you had the option to use full size mags w/ spacers. I preferred the 1.0 compact because it was easily converted to a midsize or full size by simply using full size mag and swapping to a full size slide, respectively.

If the grip was any smaller; I don't think it would be too comfortable to shoot . At least in any type of competition. I have shot mine in two EDC competitions. It is working well so far.

IMO they should come out with a 4" 45acp with the same grip height as the 2.0 9mm compact... Glock 19 size if you will, which is the holy grail for concealed carry gun sizes according to the internet...
My carry rotation is as follows:
M&P 45 acp M 2.0 full size is the biggest gun I will use and I only choose it when I feel the need for a 45 which is when I think I might encounter a four legged critter that I might need to defend myself against... I like to carry OWB when I can and the 4.6" barrel and fullsize grip make it a bit tough to hide but, if I go IWB it's easy to hide with Crossbreed Supertuck...
M&P 2.0 9mm Compact 4" is my typical EDC, it's small enough to carry OWB with a polo or button up shirt untucked and it hides great with the Supertuck IWB I rarely feel the need for any caliber larger than a 9mm and I like having 16 rounds on tap if needed...
M&P Shield 9mm Is great for summer time carry with just a t shirt it will hide well OWB in non permissive environments it disappears IWB under even a t shirt... Carrying just 8 or 9 rounds in the gun is still pretty solid and for it's size the thing is dang easy to get good hits with.
M&P Bodyguard 380 Is the gun I carry in my pocket when I either am just knocking around the house in sweat pants or I need to wear a shirt tucked in and can't add a cover garment OR if I am in a serious non permissive environment when I cannot afford under any circumstances to be 'made'.
Notes:
1) When I say non permissive I don't mean places that are illegal to carry I always follow the law...
2) My IWB rig for long term use is always a crossbreed supertuck, I have a Galco Triton holster for quick on and off when I am in and out of places that I can't legally carry I feel it's safer to remove the holster and gun as a whole and toss that in the glove box or safe in my center console..
3) OWB I use either a Bravo Concealment BCA with Pancake Wings for the 9mm's or a Blade Tech Total Eclipse for the 45..
4) Pocket carry I just use a cheap uncle mikes or sometimes a desantis superfly
5) I always carry a 2nd mag for the double stacks, two when I am running the shield..
6) Sometimes I will carry the .380 as a BUG to one of the larger guns...
Way more than you guys wanted to know but, maybe it's interesting to somebody!
FYI: I've been carrying for about 10 years...

The 1st gen 45c IS the size of the G19. Pic shows the 2.0 9 Compact at top. 45c below it.

That does depend on how you carry, and your body shape.
I carry a gun that size outside waistband, just behind my left hip. I have a natural shape that tends to hide the grip. But, a longer barrel might stick out from under my shirt.
We are all built different.

I wonder if there's a 2.0 M&P 45 in the work with a 3.6" barrel and the 1.0 Compact 8+1 grip. There's been speculation why 3.6", but that length isn't indicative to S&W. I recall an article that 3.6" had to do with minimum barrel lengths for OCONUS sales.

Ah yes of course, I was tired when I wrote that post. They should come out with a 2.0 version of the pictured 45acp. I had one of the 1.0's a about 6 or 7 years ago, it was a good gun to carry just like my 2.0 4" 9mm compact is... I had looked around for some of the 1.0 compacts but, I couldn't find anything locally so I got the 2.0...
I hope they also come out with a G26 sized 9mm compact I realize the shield is pretty close in size to a G26 but, 10+1 seems more substantial than 7+1... Basically the 3.6" 9mm compact with a shorter handle, even if it's 12 + 1 like the 1.0 9C that would be sweet.

You can use Mag Guts spring and follower and turn your 7 round factory Shield magazine into a 9 rounder or 9+1 and its only about an 1/8 inch longer in length. The 8 becomes a 10 +1

the 2.0 compact is nothing but the full size "middy". The original M&P 45 had a 4.5 inch barrel on a full size frame, and a 4 inch M&P compact slide on a full size frame, and then the ACTUAL m&P 45 compact with a compact frame and the 4" barrel. This one is just the full size "middy" in 2.0 form. I was hoping for the M&P 45c in 2.0 form

I had forgotten about the mag guts stuff, thanks for reminding me. Do you know what the reliability is like on their stuff?

Yes I used the mag gut kits in both my 7 and 8 round magazines. I have put about 200 rounds through them without a single FTF or FTE.

I picked one up a short while ago. I like it. 4", full size grips w/10 round capacity, new trigger and stippling, just fine for me. I don't carry a semi in my pocket. May even get Apex parts for it.
