Default M2.0 Compact Conversion Barrels

I know the popularity of .40 is on the decline but I'm surprised I don't see more feedback on the M2.0 compact in .40. The feedback I see is almost universally positive but I just don't see much mention of them.

I haven't really seen any mention of 9mm (or 357 Sig?) conversion barrels for either the 4-inch or 3.6-inch compacts in .40. I think I saw a Youtube video where a guy put a 4.25" barrel from a previous gen M&P into an M2.0 4" compact and it functioned but I'm curious about straight 9mm conversion barrels for a M2.0 compact in .40. Are they available somewhere? I looked a little at the usual suspects and haven't seen them.

Check Storm Lake Barrels. Link I use their conversions in my Glock 23. I think I get better accuracy from the conversion barrel over stock. Biggest difference is the ejector angle. 40 is wider and if you dedicate it to 9mm you may need to replace it with one for 9mm.

I've checked that previously but they don't show any M2.0 barrels in their pull-down menus. Having said that, their 9mm conversion barrel for the original 40c shows that it is 3.58" in length and I've wondered if it will fit and function in an M2.0 40 with the 3.6" barrel. The original 40c barrel is listed as being 3.5" long but I don't know if the barrel lugs, hood, and so on would all mate up acceptably.

P.S. I have emailed Storm Lake to ask the above question. I'll post what I learn (if anything).

M&P Barrels

Some of the Apex offerings are out of stock, but a call to their very helpful Customer Service will give you the info you need. These guys are the experts for M&P’s.

That being said, I have been the route of conversion barrels and even slides. I won’t do it any more. I understand the attraction and potential $$ savings, but for only a little more money one can buy a whole gun (even used). I like guns better than barrels. I also found that .357 SIG in smaller guns is unpleasant to shoot, expensive, and yields very little from shorter barrels in terminal performance.

I just listed a 357 Sig barrel and 9mm conversion barrel here in the classifieds.....for the 2.0 - 4" M&P.

I had to have 2.0 - 4.25" barrels trimmed down and an 11 degree crown installed.

To the best of my knowledge and hours searching and calling aftermarket vendors, no one is making these barrels for the 2.0 4".

Since you can safely load a 155gr to 1300+ with the 4" 2.0 40sw, I don't see the need for a 357sig barrel.
I run HiTek coated 155gr lswc to 1350fps using Hodgdon's published Longshot data. The 2.0 barrel gives perfect casehead support, and the I run 1.16" COL to build a little extra margin.
But what I really need is a source for extra power recoil springs.

Check with KKM Precision. They make a quality barrel and are a good company to deal with.
