1st gen MP/9 L/E package??? blk PVD
A while back I bought a new MP 9 L/E night sights 3 mags L/E SKU number , the gun has been flawless and had all updates , slide lock , barrel with two dots punched , the gun had a fact black PVD finish over the nitrate type finish . Who were they made for and what contract ? HUL36xx serial sku might be 151219 or 151215 any ideas ? Gun came from a L/E dist new in box like a over run.

First, what's "awhile"?
PVD over Nitride makes little sense to me.
You should contact S&W Support to determine what department ordered it, if any. Many manufacturers produce LE units that are never purchased and then sold through commercial channels.

To get get the L/E SKU gun you needed a letter head from your Dept or chief . Certain Smith guns were L/E package and they are not suppose to sell to every one .

Be aware that there seem to be LE Only SKUs and LE SKUs. I'm not sure what the difference is but that's what I was told about my first model M&P 9L with the SKU 305701.
Scored a M&P 9L. Some questions

I’ve purchased my own LE sku guns and never needed a letterhead. Just had to show my LE ID and I bought them from an LE dealer.

They’re not necessarily made for any particular department.
Lots of departments make or let officers buy they’re own guns. I’ve worked for three departments and only one issued guns, and that one also bought through a distributor and not ordered directly from the factory.
