Currently I'm carrying a Sig P229 in .40 S&W, but in warmer months I often carry something in stainless, like my 6906, or something like a Shield 45, because I'm a profuse sweater. When I carry my 66-1 snub, only the grip screw gets rusty.

The Sig P229 is a very easy carry, and I'm considering getting a .357 sig barrel for it. I carry the 9mm at times, but "new advances in the 9mm ammo's performance" or not, I like a larger bullet. (as in 40 or 45)

No modifications beyond a change in grips, so far.

Can we please not turn this S&W thread into a non-S&W pistol competition? Maybe start a different thread?

Having owned 10 KT’s from when they first hit the market, and being one of the original contributors to KTOG, I’d be glad to discuss them, elsewhere.

642 PC. I replaced the pretty composite grips with rubber Hogues, and put a couple of coats of red on the front blade; otherwise it's just as it came from the factory.

The one with my 2.0 Compact is a Aoraki. It's a Ridge clone that I found on Amazon. I stopped carrying it because the elastic frays within a few months of use.

The wallet with my Shield, that is a wallet that a buddy of mine made for me out of one of my old XDM Compact holsters. He does make them fresh though. Look for RedEARTH Concealment.

Currently carrying a 360 Airweight for my EDC as my previous EDC DW 15-5 has been giving back fits. The smaller and lighter 5 shot is all I need and with the Hogue grips on 'er she shoots .357 pretty good, a little snappy but nothing that bothers me (it would if I put put a box thru it though).

Sigma SW40VE.

All stock, no aftermarket modifications as of yet. It's a cheap, last generation gun which I recently bought used in like new condition for a mere $199, and there aren't really all that many aftermarket options for it anyway, so I'll most likely just leave it as is.

If I wanted a more feature-rich, upgradable S&W pistol, then I'd probably go for an M&P rather than sink a lot of money into a budget-priced pistol like the Sigma.

I don't often carry a Smith, but when I do it's either my 65-3 3-inch or my model 49 shown in my avatar.

Usually I carry a Gen 5 Glock 19, but when I am not carrying that, then it is a S&W Shield 9mm (“1.0” version). The Shield has Ameriglo Hackathorn sights (all black rear and orange front sight with tritium). I also installed an Apex Duty/Carry Kit (stock hinged trigger) and rubber grip decals. I usually carry that when visiting my in-laws in NJ (I’m covered by LEOSA).

Edit to add: The spare mag I carry has a HYVE Technologies +3 base pad for the 7 round mag.

Shield PC .40, 6 round mag with a NDZ pinky extension. Spare mag is a 7 rounder with a Taran Tactical +1 base. I hate the OEM sleeve, it slides when I reload. Beyond that she's stock in a Bianchi model 57 holster.

My Smith carry is a 45 Shield with FO night sights.
But everyday is a 1994 Sig 229 in 357 Sig.
Go and get a 357 Sig barrel for your 229, it is an excellent cartridge. And when the 9mm +P+ people spout, you can laugh at them.

If you are referring to the mag carrier, it's called a NeoMag, and it is meant for weak side pocket carry. It uses a magnet to hold the mag in place, while looking like a knife pocket clip. It's a great product.

340PD no-lock or the LCPII depending on circumstances & mode of dress. In either case I always carry one reload w/me. The only modification to the 340PD is a grip change to factory wood magnas w/a grip adapter. My LCP has the front sight painted red but aside from those things I don’t change any internals on a carry weapon. I believe the company engineers know a lot more than I do and learn to use them they way they come out of the box.

My 66-2. Only modification was adding Mr. Grashorns pre-war elk stocks.
This one did a two month National Park tour covering 11,300 miles, Maine to the left coast and back. And No, I didn’t ask permission of the Communist states for permission to travel through.

Either a 9mm Shield or a 3.6" 2.0 Compact in 9mm. Both are stock except for the Talon grips on the Shield.

I typically pocket carry and normally that is with my M&P 380 with Talon grips and a Magguts + 1 follower, all in a Remora holster. Sometimes I use my Performance Center 642 Talo instead. The PC has taken care of its updates with its enhanced action, aesthetics and cut for moon clips. I also have an M&P40C, but it doesn't get carried much now that I have "that really small double-stack" that holds 10 - 12+1 rounds of 9mm:-).

Lately, it’s been my CZ 75 D Compact PCR.

Sometimes it’s a snubbie - either M36 or M60.

Other days, I’ll opt for my Gen. 1 Shield9 or my *gasp* Taurus PT111.

Edit: Other than Tyler T-Grips on the snubbies, I keep my carry guns bone stock.

In the house, 442 with CT grips in a Milt Sparks pocket holster. Outside, 4" M&P .45, with ACRO sight, Apex Duty Carry kit installed. A real nail driver. In a JM Kydex IWB holster.

Default Has anyone shot a M&P 45 M2.0 Sub Compact yet?

Has anyone shot a M&P 45 M2.0 Sub Compact yet? I am particularly curious about how it measures up to the Compact as well as the Shield 45. I have carry pistols in .380, 9mm, 40, and .357 SIG, but I don't have a .45 yet, so I was thinking about one of these options and was curious how they compare. I have all the specs for each gun, so I'm mostly curious about the shooting characteristics if anyone has an opinion yet.

That's an interesting idea. I carried an M&P40c for almost 8 years after they first came out. That gun was uber reliable and accurate. I carry a SIG p229 chambered in .357 SIG. I didn't like shooting my Glock 33, but the extra ounces on an M&P might make all the difference.

This time of year I like to carry my SIG P229 Enhanced Elite chambered in .357 SIG. I purchased it as a .40 S&W and also purchased a Bar Sto 9mm conversion barrel. I swapped out the factory SIG night sights for XS Standard Dots and I added Hogue G10 grips to replace the E2 grips that came with it. I carry it in a modified Bravo Concealment Torsion IWB holster. They don't make them for the thicker .40/.357 slides, so I had to use a heat gun to reform it a bit. I also added a Aholster wedge (which I put on all my AIWB holsters).

I recently changed two of my other carry guns. I was very fond of carrying a Gen4 G26 which I sold to "upgrade" to a Gen5 G26 with Ameriglo Agent Sighs. Unlike most people I've heard from, I prefer the finger grooves of the Gen4, but instead of buying another one, I instead switched to a Beretta PX4 Storm Compact in 9mm which is a great firearm in most respects. I switched out the sights with Ameriglos. I also changed the decocker to the D configuration with the "carry" profile. I also carry it in a Dara MTO minimalist AIWB holster.

I also carried a Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard 380 for many years, but I recently sold it and switched over to a Ruger LCP II. I like both guns for different reasons. The fit and finish is noticeably better on the Bodyguard. The initial trigger pull is also better, and I liked the option of the diminutive manual safety. The trigger on the LCP II, however, is infinitely better for rapid follow up shots, and I essentially made my decision on that. I just use this with th holster it came with.

My newest edition is my Smith & Wesson Performance Center M&P Shield M2.0 in 9mm. I had to send it in right after it arrived because the trigger was coming in consistently around 7 lbs and the manual safety didn't appear to be working correctly. I had sold my original M1.0 Shield about five years ago and always regretted it, so I added another one back in again. I will be carrying in a Bravo Concealment Torsion holster I have waiting for it along with another Aholster wedge that's on its way. My Shield is due back this Wednesday (crossing my fingers). I also have a set of orange Ameriglo i-dot night sights waiting for it. I may buy a +2 Magguts floorplate to test. If I can get one that proves reliable, I think it would be a nice addition to the Shield.

These are the only modifications I've made and they're really the only ones I am interested in. I'm also considering getting a M&P Shield in 45 auto or perhaps an M&P 45 M2.0 sub compact, but I haven't made up my mind. My goal is to have carry options in all or most of the popular calibers (.380 ACP, .38 Special, 9mm, .40 S&S, .45 ACP and .357 SIG). Personally I don't have a need for .357 Magnum or 10mm.

9mm Shield 2.0 with Trijicon HD (Yellow), the rest is stock.

7 round in the weapon, 8 round in the pocket via a NeoMag.
Hornady 135grain Critical Duty.

CrossBread MiniTuk IWB.

Pure CCW comfort!

On a rare occasion, M&P 2.0 9mm, 4.25 inch, Trijicon HD (Yellow), the rest is stock, same ammo, in a CrossBreed Snapslide OWB, with a jacket. This time of year that can happen where I live for about 5-6 months.

Currant EDC for some time is an M&P 40c with a conversion barrel to .357Sig. Like the size and the accuracy. Yes, I have several different 2.0s that I also carry.

Now that I'm semi-retired and working from home.............

90% of the time it's my 3913NL with a flush fit 7 round magazine and checkered Hogue wood grips.... in a Milt Sparks Summer Special .... with 2 spare 8 round mags in a Sparks IWB carrier(worn OWB but under my Wilderness Tactical Frequent Flyer Belt).

Great set up in my quiet "Burb of the Burgh".

When I'm traveling out of my Burb.... I tend to switch to a 69xx series ..... either my PC Shorty-9 (Sparks Executive Companion) or my FrankenSmith 6915 (6906 frame mated with a 4" 915 slide) Spare mag(s) are 15 rd 59xx magazines with +2 adapters.

At the cabin or lake in Pa.'s Laurel Highlands .... I'll carry either a 3" 60-10,think micro 686; or a 3" 60 both with Spegel Boot grips.

Things haven't changed much since about 1990..... new is newer but I've never found much reason to change.......

9mm. Shield 1.0, bone stock except for a Hogue grip sleeve and a Magguts +1 spring in the 8 round magazine. Carried in a Bianchi Pro 100 IWB holster.

Dead on reliable, why mess with it?

UPDATE: I've actually upgraded my SIGMA SW40VE with a Meprolight Tru-Dot Night Sight.

Optics Planet had said sights on sale for $11 and someone in my family was looking for a cheap Christmas gift for me, so I directed them to the sale, and on Christmas morning I unwrapped it and put it on my SW40VE. It was easy to install, looks great, is great for low light conditions, such as those one might encounter at night.

I've carried a M&P 9c for the past several years. But lately I've been going to my newly purchased 9mm Shield. Neither has anything other than use on em.

Both are carried in Foxx IWB holsters

.380 Bodyguard.

Would prefer something bigger, but if it won’t fit in my right-front pocket, I can’t and won’t carry it.

Even with the Bodyguard, I am far from defenseless.
MUCH better than no gun at all.

Carried a Smith pc 9mm Shield with talon grip tape, arachnigrip, apex flat faced trigger, Trijicon night sights, tlr 6, and a +2 magguts magazine. That one is now in the pouch on the side of my recliner. My current edc is my Shield m&p 2.0 PCs 9mm 4” with the supplied red dot. Going too add the apex trigger. Seventy five year old eyes need all the help they can get. It’s accurate and fast.

Now, since I got it and have shot it enough, a 2.0 Sub-compact. This still alternates frequently with the 2.0 Compact. Maybe, 10% of the time, if those are too bulky, I will switch to a Shield (mostly my 2.0 PC). Usually they sit in an AIWB from Keeper's Concealment atop a leather A&G gun belt, and always with a spare mag, flashlight, knife, and tourniquet!
