Default M&p 40 2.0 compact durability and shootability

Am familiar with Glock and sig semiauto, bit not s&w. Any problems with slides beating up the Smith's? Hear that Glocks had issues with pre gen 4 40 Cal. Kinda looking at a Smith 40 2.0 compact. Looking for info and opinions of any 40 Cal. Triker

I have a 40c 1.0 and a 40c 2.0. The 1.0 has thousands of rounds through it and is still running fine. The 2.0 shots way nicer and I have about 500 rounds through it. I do not believe you will have any issues with the Smith 40c's.

I can't find if frame size is same. Like the reach to the trigger. Worth the extra $20 for .25 longer barrel and 2 more rounds? Triker

I have an M&P 40 compact 1.0 with over 13,000 .40 cal. rounds and over 2,000 .357 SIG rounds through it. The frame is in perfect condition and nothing is beaten up. At 10,000 rounds it needed a tune-up when it developed occasional failures to fire. S&W repaired it free of charge. They replaced every moving part except the extractor (my 40c has never had a failure to extract), and it has run good as new for the subsequent 5,000 rounds. It's a tough, reliable gun, and accurate, too. So much so that it has been my everyday carry for the past five years. I'm always on the lookout for something better as my EDC, but so far, nothing has come close to being able to replace it. I give it a strong "buy" recommendation.

FWIW, the M&P pistol was intentionally and originally designed around the .40 S&W caliber, since that was the most popular selling LE caliber at the time. The development of the M&P pistol was a closely guarded 4 year project, and the official model release of the M&P 40 was Jan 2006. (Other calibers followed.)

The company has had a fair number of years (post commercial release) in which to continually refine and revise the M&P pistol line, including the introduction of the 2.0 version.

I love my .40 5", its is a barn burner, but I can't speak to its durability as some other have, but its a very well built, nice fitting weapon!

My M&P40c with approximately 3000 rounds down range without any problems.
Clean and lubricate properly you'll be happy. My 3000 is kinda mundane compared to some of the number noted above. Nice to know I have a long ways to go with mine.
