"So do you sell a gun when you lose? "
I am a long term winning poker player. I reached that level by being a dedicated student of the game. There are times when the cards run bad for a few days but I rarely lose more than half of my buy-in during a session. I also keep good playing records. I know what my hourly win rate is and where I stand at the end of each month. I do not gamble. Bad poker players (which is most of all them) gamble with me.

I put away $50 per pay period that goes towards my shooting hobby. Reloading supplies, guns etc. Plus at the first of November this year I started a fun job working a few days a month at my LGS. That goes into the envelope as well. Just picked out a SIG P365 XL and I love it.

My wife and I save for everything we buy except the house we bought years ago. For that we took out a 10 year loan and paid as much extra on it every month that we could. We didn’t vacation and we didn’t do anything other than work our butts off and paid the house off in less than 5 years. We pay cash for our cars, vacations and our toys. We’ll put our big purchases on a credit card that gets us 2% back and always pay it off the month we charge it. I’ve not had a balance since divorcing my ex who about ruined me with 30 cards and her boyfriend. She cost me close to $750k in six months. (Pain) I’m 95% retired now and will never carry any debt again.
I finance my toys from smart trading and purchases that I sell. I started collecting Vintage military firearms Years ago when M1 carbines went for $79-99 and there was a flood of Premium uS, Russian, German and British WWI & II firearms at fire sale prices. I bought everything I could afford and years later started selling.
I’ve sold most of the vintage guns but kept a few favorites and with the money I generated turned it into other toys that have escalated a great deal in price too. Now I’m thinning out the toys I no longer want and reinvesting.
I almost never take money from the general living fund.

Needs vs Wants
Since coveted S&W's are easier to have and to hold than rebuilt Bronco transmissions, I have no problem making the choice. It's all about what counts in the real world.

I word for several FFL’s helping them at gun shows. Every weekend I help, I’m paid $300 in cash. That goes into a bank envelope, which I save, as I do not need gun show earnings in my day to day life. When I see something I like, the gun show $ buys more guns. It’s a win/win situation. GARY.

20200203_194606.jpg My gun found, plus side jobs for people I know. Last year had two of the containers full over $600. Always cash though.

I gave up trying to buy a new gun for a while. Seems like every time I scraped enough pennies together, something'd come up.
Washer, dryer, heater, fridge, etc....

Turquoise Grips
Jorge, I'd like to compliment you on your choice of those turquoise grips that you show on your beautiful pistol, in post #48.
Turquoise is my birthstone, and those beautiful grips that you show, mounted on that tastefully engraved pistol, really flops my mop.
At age 88+, I shouldn't be looking to collect more gun related items, nor to consider having a gun engraved, as I probably wouldn't survive the waiting time involved in an engraving commission. All of those, detriments still don't keep me from wishing.
Just for kicks & giggles, would you care to share the maker of those grips? I assume REPUBLIC FORGE ALBUQUERQUE NM, U.S.A. stamped on the side of the pistol is the creator of that exquisit metal work?
Thanks for sharing your work of art with us.

Oh no no no, I'm sorry for any confusion. This gun is not mine!!! I don't own it, I never handled it, never seen it in person.
I was just trying to make a point since someone said there's a price difference between a vehicle and a gun... and it's not. All I tried to say.
I apologize if it had the effect of me owning this gun. I'd have to ***** money to be willing to spend $13K+ on a firearm.
The gun is made by Republic Forge and I'm not sure about the grip maker. An email to RF should clear it up: [email protected]
Again, sorry for any confusion
