Default Shield 2.0 trigger vs Apex

I've heard that the Shield 2.0 trigger is a "vast improvement" over the original Shield trigger. How good is it? How does it compare to the Apex aftermarket trigger?

Curious too. You and I may have seen the same You Tube review (had both the Shield 2.0 and EZ in a comparison?). Also saw a review saying that v2.0 improvements weren't all that much-mostly the grip.

My 1.0 M&Ps are all apexed, sear and trigger. My Shield 45s only have the Apex trigger. They cleaned up quite nicely and no need to install an apex sear. Simply polished the USB and a few bearing surfaces. I would note the Shield 45s still retain the trigger loop, which can be adjusted. Picked up an M&P9c 2.0/3.6". Unfortunately it did not retain the trigger loop. I ended up putting the entire Apex package in my 9C 2.0. Breaks clean at the very end of the stroke, which some may/may not prefer. Apex does offer the flat face trigger package for the 2.0 which also includes a longer disconnect and has the sear breaking much sooner at the beginning of the stroke.

My 2 Shield M.2 s both have the Apex sear kit but I'm using the OEM triggers. Both are easy and comfortable to shoot. The Apex flat trigger hurt my finger. Both triggers have improved with use.

My 9mm 2.0 Shield out of the box has a 5.5 lb trigger. To me, very acceptable. My 9mm 1.0 had a trigger pull I did not like so I installed the Apex sear. Sear only. It now has a 4.5 lb trigger. Both guns were purchased in 2019.

Same experience as Zed. Version 2.0 Shield did not need to be upgraded. Came with a 5 lb. trigger.

Version 1.0 9mm started with 6½ lb. trigger. Installed the Apex sear only and it instantly improved 4½ lb pull.

The MP 2.0 stock trigger some find it meh to much improved but will argue Apex is way better. I have both an MP Shield 9mm with Apex and my 2.0 Compact is stock. The Apex trigger pull on mine is about 4.5lbs where my stock MP 2.0 actually I have two of them and one is 5.5lbs and the other is 5.0lbs stock. As far as crispness the apex slightly is better but both are very crisp.

Pretravel in Apex and overtravel is supposed to be less in the Apex, I haven't really noticed. The only thing that concerns me about the Apex is stories of owners getting light primer strikes. I believe maybe its an installation issue and owners are using too light of a trigger spring, maybe if they used their duty use spring it would solve it

but for a carry gun I am leaving mine stock

I have a shield 45 I recently added the apex trigger. I think it is much improved I hated the stupid hinged trigger. It also has less pre travel and over travel. Pull weight seems the same I did not measure it. I think it was worth it to install it personally. It was a diy install only moderate in difficulty. You do need a set of punches and a C clamp

If you can or are interested, buy the 2.0 Performance Center Shield. That trigger is AWESOME! The regular 2.0s are better than the 1.0, but the PC is even better. I spend the money spent on an Apex on ammo, and shoot the gun more ... YMMV.
