2 thumbs up: my new Shield EZ 9
I have been looking at alternatives to my (PC) Shield due to thumb arthritis giving me fits manipulating the slide, etc.
So I ended up getting a Shield EZ in 9mm, brought it home Friday.
After a quick clean and a chance to get familiar with it; I was able to hit the range this am. That’s a nice shooter out of the box. I ran 150 rounds (all 115fmj) with zero issues. Thought the sights were fine, actually shooting it was very similar to my other Shield and my full size MP. Put the front dot where I want to hit and I do so... well at least close lol. And no need for a mag loader, its mags were like loading my 22’s.
Considering it was new, and I wear a thumb brace, I was very happy with the results. All shooting today was in the 5-7 yd area to get comfortable. I look forward to more time with it, and my initial thoughts are that this model does it’s job well and has a market for it.
I for one am glad SW brought this one out.

Helped set my sister up with the 9mm, an elderly neighbor with the .380 and both were surprisingly great shooting guns. And "EZ" was an understatement when racking and mag loading. Outta the park on these.

Purchased one for my Lady and she loves the 9EZ. Only problem is, I took a liking to it also. Sure is easier on my old thumbs. 300 rounds out of the box and no hiccups.

I think overall it is definitely a nice option. The grip texture is (for me) just right, it has a really nice trigger, and even a rail for accessories. It also just happens to be easy to operate.
Not a bad package at all for any shooter; in addition to those with hand/grip issues that it is marketed towards. Just my .02 of course.

Yep. I bought one knowing my wife "eventually" wanted to learn to shoot, thinking secretly I'd have a few months with it for myself. "Eventually" became less than a week after I bought it, and we've been to the range every week for like the last 5-6 weeks. It's a great gun and shoots well and comfortably regardless of the "EZ" features. Super fast to load. At 7 yards I'm shooting in the black nearly every shot (not drawing or anything). I'm less consistent with my Shield 1.0, a little left mostly. And I have to use a loader to get those suckers in the magazine (the 1.0).
Like mentioned, the grip texture is like goldilocks, just aggressive enough.

I too shot 115 in mine and the results were good for me, Rem UMC and American Eagle in my first range visit with the EZ. I tend to only run 115gn in my Shields and my full size MP, usually those brands and Blazer Brass and Herters as other options in the past.

However...
My sister just bought a 9mm EZ and her boyfriend is a frequent shooter. Her brand new gun ran exactly 35 rounds when an internal part dealing with the hammer and firing pin broke, requiring that the gun be sent back to the factory.
I feel that gun manufacturers, seeking to capitalize on a currently hot market for miniaturized 9mms, are cutting corners and not thoroughly testing their products regarding endurance. The .380 EZ has magazine issues and even SIG had an issue with their new 9mm that will replace the Beretta M9 in the U.S. military.
Some responsible gun writers advise not to buy a new model gun until it can be demonstrated that the manufacturer has worked out the bugs. Others hail each new gun to hit the market as the best invention since sliced bread.

Oh sure anything can happen, but valid points. So far my early release SW’s I bought in the past when they came out (a PC Shield, Compact 22 and a Victory) all performed flawlessly. But if something happens then I’d deal with the manu on it.
Heck someone can buy “the most reliable car” and can get 1 that causes trouble. Which I am sure is the case with many mass produced items.
