I ordered a Hogue grip sleeve for my M&P 45. What were these guys thinking when they designed this sleeve?! I need a dozen guys to help me stretch this thing to "slip" it on! What a chore! Ideas?

Use Windex or golf grip solvent.

I have an idea...

Buy a bicycle tire inner tube, a new one as it comes all folded up in a small box. Maybe $4-$6.

Cut a length of it anywhere except the valve. Pull that on your pistol and use it instead.

If you found by guessing that you cut it too short or too long, you have a LOT left to try again. And if you find you really like it, you can make many more for other guns.

I like this a lot more than the thicker aftermarket solutions. Those sometimes have finger grooves and/or palm swells that I also don’t like.

I put one on my Shield and my Victory. Yep both were difficult but I knew that going in. Seems i used hand sanitizer (no aloe or anything) on one and glass cleaner on the other. I don't recall one being easier than the other but can say those grips weren't gonna come off while shooting lol

I recently got one for my 9mm Shield, and followed the manufacturers directions exactly. Broke a fingernail right away, then gave the job to my husband.

He followed the directions also, and added a lot of four letter words, but accomplished the task after quite a struggle.

One thing is for sure, it's not slipping off.

Good ideer on the bike tube. My 6906 started feeling a bit slippery when I added the mag extension for 5900 series mags, and I lost the little "pinky holder in place lip". I believe a bike tube is my answer.

Just put Hogue grips on my 9mm Shield, Kahr CM9 and P380. A hairdryer to warm the rubber up works even better than the hot water and you can rewarm the grip as you work it on.

I use a heat gun and have installed several without any problem. I put on a pair of thin cloth gardening gloves which makes it so much easier as you can really heat up the sleeve beyond where you would for bare hands.

A box of rubber bands always did the trick for me..........

I boiled my Hogue grip for a long time, followed up with a powerful hair dryer, used lots of Windex, and it still took me over an hour to wrestle it on to my Shield 45. On the plus side, it was a really good workout, and the results were worth it. The Hogue is an excellent grip, and as others have said, once it's on, it does not move. I've had mine for about 5,000 rounds and it's good as new. It fills my hand better than the slim original grip, and does a good job absorbing recoil. If either of those things are important to you, the struggle is worth the effort.

Yeah, I tried and failed with the boiling water/windex method, given arthritic thumbs and wrists. Resorted to asking my much younger, body-builder friend for a hand. He got it done, but with a struggle. Love the result!

Those things are a bear to put on but you never have to worry about them moving once in place. I put one on my Ruger Security 9 with the help of a heat gun and a few mechanical words.

I've used hair spray many times for motorcycle grips. That would probably work here too.

I did use boiling water and windex. While I ultimately managed to get it installed, it was a bear!

Put one on my Sig P2022 5 years ago and it has not moved. Now I use Tuff1 grip sleeves. Think bicycle tube with texture.
