Shield trigger will not reset. Please help
I bought the 1.0 version a month ago. Over 600 flawless rounds and then today happened. I was dry firing and something just didn’t feel or sound right. The trigger stopped resetting. It moves forward after the pull but no click or felt reset. So I field stripped it, pulled the trigger, the sear drops fine. I pushed the trigger bar to the frame, sear resets and feel the click upon releasing the trigger. Seems good. Put slide back on, same issue. No reset. Any suggestions?

Forgot to mention that I thoroughly cleaned the pistol. No help.

Just start with the obvious-- all stock components?

Total shot in the dark, from the sounds of you dry-firing then noticing something off, you might want to disassemble your striker assembly in the slide and peek around..

What Boogs said. If it resets with the slide off, your trigger bar is long enough and tipping the sear.
Not working with the slide on would seem to be the striker or striker assembly.

Thanks for the replies. The pistol is all stock. I’m going to take your advice and disassemble. A little scary as I’ve never taken one of these down before.

It sounds as though a trip back to the factory under warranty may be in order.

10:19 of this vid shows how to remove the striker assembly:
My 9mm Shield had some random soft primer strikes. I found a small sliver of metal wedged into the plastic of the striker assembly. Smith may have left some metal machining slivers in your striker assembly or the striker safety pin. Clean out the striker channel. With the striker assembly removed you can blow some air into the striker safety channel to clean any loose debris out of it.

I use snap-caps on all firearms (even strikers) when dry-firing..
This is the one instance I could care less what the manufacturer says about it being "okay", particularly when a package of snap caps is around $10.
It is a good skill to know how to disassemble your tool, getting to the striker assembly is no biggie, make it happen

Here is a shorter video showing how to remove the striker. It's very easy.

Disconnector Spring
I know this reply is way late but, for whatever its worth, here's a possible solution to the "soft" reset that the 380 EZ's commonly have - according to multiple post, including Youtube reviews.....
The OEM disconnector spring is way too soft and doesn't give a significant "feedback" to the operator to let him/her know the trigger has been reset. With more usage/wear on the spring, the weaker it will get. The solution I found to work great is to order a replacement compression spring from Amazon that is only 2mm longer (from 8 to 10). The positive difference is significant, without compromising performance. I don't endorse a component product, nor am I a gunsmith to give advise or direction.....just sharing what worked for me. Good luck.

Trigger bar failure
I own an M&P Shield EZ 9mm Performance Center that has been returned to Smith and Wesson twice with trigger bar failures. I just got it back today. I’m really hoping that it doesn’t fail again. I’ve never had a Smith and Wesson fail for me. This pistol has failed twice with less than 200 rounds through it. Fingers crossed.
