From all I've read and all the videos I've watched my interest has peaked on the new M&P Shield EZ 9. I was looking for a gun for concealed carry and wanted either a .380 or a small 9 mm. When I found out that there was no ammo in my area for .380 I decided on the 9. I have about 1000 rounds at home at this time.

My local LGS had the EZ 9 and it was one of the only 9s that they still had. Compact I thought it would have a lot of recoil but I was wrong. This gun is easy on the hand and the sights make it easy to shoot.

The slide racks back like a good target .22. For someone with strength problems this is the gun for you. It shoots better than a lot of guns I've played with including my Glock 19. Recoil feels less and that's a good thing.

I fired 50 rounds of American Eagle 124 grain ammo and had no problems. Everything fed well and grouped very well. Loading the magazines was not a chore at all. There is an assist button on the side of the magazine, just like those found on your favorite .22s, making it a breeze to load.

For someone looking at a small compact gun that won't break the bank S&W M&P EX 9 fits the bill.

Glad it’s working out for you and you like it. My wife has the .380 version. She got it over a year ago before there was any hint of a 9mm version coming out.

I have one, that is, had one before the lady of the house took it to the range.
Now I have to wait until she is finished before I get to shoot my 9EZ.

Thanks for the review. I had planned to get one this month but that plan has been overcome by events. I'll wait until the dust settles at the LGS and I can feel comfortable leaving the house and going to the range.

I really like mine. It’s like a lighter 3913. And I really like the grip safety. Makes holstering safer for me. Place thumb on back of slide and the grip safety is disengaged.

I purchased one that is on hold until the corona freeze is over. Is it able to be carried in an ankle holster? I can really find one that Im sure it will fir. Any suggestions?

I don’t even consider the regular Shield to be an ankle carry gun, and the Shield EZ is bigger so even less of an ankle carry gun. I can’t even imagine you’d be able to get the grip over a pant leg without being very obvious and not easy to get to. That’s probably the reason you can’t find an ankle holster for it. The maker wouldn’t sell enough to justify making one.

I have an ez 380 without the safety and just acquired a EZ 9 with a safety (the only one in the shop). My problem seems to be having my thumb wipe the safety on while shooting, does anyone know if the safety can be removed and a filler piece placed In the resulting hole?

I bought the EZ 9mm and I'm happy a little heavy but it makes it easier...no more than $400

One day at a time

I bought one for the wife, who has arthritis in both hands. She absolutely loves it. She still is getting used to the grip safety but feels that more practice will overcome this.
I lucked out and got hers(no thumb safety)for $319. They only had 5 left.

I also have the 9EZ and agree it is much easier to operate than the Shield 1.0 I traded in. The sights are very good with the big white dots but I painted the front dot bright green and the rears bright red. Much easier to see. Being larger than the Shield the EZ is harder to conceal especially here in the south in the heat of summer. That's the reason that 2 days after I bought the 9EZ I acquired a Sig P365. Smaller than the 9EZ by a bunch and smaller than the Shield and very easy to conceal. The trigger is amazing with about a 5# pull and very short reset and being able to carry 10+1 in such a small package is a plus (save your thumb and get a Uplula mag loader.....trust me)

Proven Arms and Outfitters BUT i got one of the last at that price. they had gotten introductory pricing from S&W so i believe the price has gone up, since those were sold out now.

I checked Proven Arms and they seem to be sold out. My Shield 1.0 slide has always given me trouble, I can get it all the way back but have a hard time engaging the stop. You've convinced me it's time for the 9EZ.
