Default Shield9 conversion

Itís popular to convert a .40S&W to 9mm by changing barrel but can one by a .40 barrel (and mags) to convert a Shield9?

Or do I need to buy another Shield in .40?

No. You can't go up only down. The breach face isn't large enough on the 9mm to accept a 40S&W. Going the other way worked fine on my full sized M&P40.
