Default Opinion on M&P 45

A local shop got in an order of N.I.B. M&P 45's. They are full sized, 1.0, that were a cancelled LEO order. They come with 3 grip panels, white 3-dot sights, and 3 10rd mags, and, of course, all the paperwork and other stuff.
The shop has them priced at $329.99, plus tax.
It seems like a bargain, what is the general opinion of the 45? I've only ever shot a full sized 9mm, and some Shields.
Thanks

Great deal. I’d jump it if it were presented to me. I assume the sights are night sights as well since most LE pistols are that way.

If that were a 2.0 I’d take out my credit card right away.

The 1.0 was my issued and carried firearm until it was recently replaced by the 2.0. Very good pistol! Not small by any means, but a good reliable pistol.

I liked the midsize version I bought so well I bought a full size and compact to keep it company. If you like 45 ACP and are comfortable with that price I think you'll be pleased.

Don't worry about the trigger and BUY IT!!! $329 for a new FS 45 M&P. My FS 1.0 is a 2007 model, no issues at all and a very nice shooter! :-)

If I didn't own three 4" .45 M&Ps, I'd jump on that deal in a minute.

I've got really good custom 1911's, some really nice Glock 21's and 30's (grip reductions and good sights) but I shoot and carry the M&Ps more than the others.

Go for it!

I've got the 4" and 4.5" models with the full sized frames. I think they are the best shooting .45s I own. Don't buy into the "trigger job" stuff about these guns. The trigger works just like it is supposed to. Sure, you can upgrade the trigger but shoot the gun first to see if you need to.

For $329, you can't go wrong.

I'd be tempted. The main reason I don't have one is that they don't make a 5" .45.

They make a 4.6" and a 5.1" though. So, you have options VERY close to your desired 5 inch!

If you put the Apex sear into the M&P 45 --it's not hard -- any concerns about the trigger quality will vanish. I have the 1.0 full-size and compact and I did this to both guns and am well satisfied.

Cheers,
Whisper

Haven't you bought these already? This is my second favorite gun (1911 is first).

Yes, it's not small, but I have no trouble concealing it.

Guess I got one of the few heavy, creeping, crunchy and long pull triggers that snuck by QC?

It’s zero take-up with a nice clean break now..... and on target

I'd buy it and hand load for it if your set up for that. I love my M&P's but bought a Glock 21 used at what your going to spend new and I love the .45 caliber. The recoil is a bit more than a 9mm but not that much really.

Congrats on the new M&P 45! Now you need to pick up a couple 14 round mags.

Botach Tactical has FDE colored ones on sale for $10 each.

It is a nice gun. I do not have one yet, but fired other people's S&W45 1.0. I am kicking myself for not buying the M&P45 1.0's that CDNN recently had for $289. I had dreams of getting the new RDE M&P45 2.0, but that is still selling above MSRP at around $750. Since you got yours; please, tell us where they are. If they are still there. Who knew this virus would be so disruptive.

I have owned the 1.0 M&P .45 in the 4" compact (8 round), 4.25" (10 round) and 4.6" (10 round). All three were excellent shooters, though an APEX trigger kit or even just the sear will improve it. I currently have the 2.0 4.5" version and I am completely happy with it in stock form. Great shooting guns. I'm intending to get the 2.0 "sub-compact" (8 round), as well. I've owned many Glocks in .45; G21, G30, G30S, G36. None come close in terms off handling and general feel.

Gritty trigger out of the box, but at that price, my money would be jumping out of my wallet for one. The Burwell trigger job would be a great $0 fix. An Apex FSS Trigger kit would be the Cadillac upgrade but at $129, you are up near a 2.0 price tag.
