Default M&P 2.0 9MM

I’m picking one up, NIB, next week from a friend and wanted to know, from those who have one, what’s your opinion of it. How does it shoot compared to the Glock and is there anything I need to be aware of? The various Youtube gun gurus give it high marks. Thanks in advance.

Got mine about 4 weeks ago, the 4" model. Mine came with tritium night sights, 3 mags, etc. Have put about 200 rounds through mine so far. No issues, actually liking the grip texture (at least for shooting); have not carried it yet. I think you'll like it! :-)

I also have the 4" compact model M&P 2 9mm. Excellent ergonomics, far superior to a Glock. The grips are very aggressively textured which I like. The trigger pull is improved over the first model M&P. Superior sights to a Glock. Place the front sight dot over where you want the bullet to hit. I give it a ten out of ten.

I have the 5 inch model. I upgraded the sights to Tritium/fiber optic.
Keep hearing how the triggers are improved on the 2.0 but this 9mm and the 2.0 .40 I had weren't that great, so they got Apex parts.

My MP9 has liked every ammo I've tried in it, and my groups are almost half of what I could get out of my FS .40s. Love the grip texture and feel of the frame. I've had a few Glocks over the years, but would never go back to one, they just feel like a "Block".

Opinions vary. Personally, my M&P's are the pistols I shoot the best. I have a 2.0 full size and 2.0 4" compact. I say there's nothing wrong at all with the trigger. But that's just me. They're both bone stock and they'll stay that way.

Like Okie21, I shoot the M&P best, so that's what I own. My 2.0 is the 4" model and the trigger is fine, but I also own three gen 1 M&Ps and shoot them well with their stock triggers. Call me adaptable; I've never had a problem with the triggers.

Have 2.0 in 4" and 3.6". Love both. Also have 1.0 compact which I love too. Stock everything.

I would say between my 2.0 4", ppq m2, glock 19 gen 4. I love shooting my 4" 2.0 more and do so better than the other two.

I have the 2.0 in 4.25 and the 3.6. They do everything they're supposed to and nothing they aren't. Had Glocks, glad I made the switch, I do like the trigger better. I also like the aggressive stippling but it does keep me from carrying under a shirt against my skin and that will always keep me from considering a Shield 2.0 for the same reason. That's why my Shield 1.0 got an Apex trigger.

Had a 4.25” 2.0 and it was the most accurate polymer/striker fired pistol I’ve ever shot. I was just dead on (for me) with that pistol. However, I experienced failures to extract which completely locked up the pistol. Sent it back to S&W and they replaced the extractor. Upon return, I had the same issue, so I got rid of it and purchased a 3.6” 2.0. I have had no issues with the 3.6”. I thought it would be a good size for carry but it’s still too large/heavy for my liking as a carry gun. Wish I had gotten another 4.25”.

I have fired numerous M&P 2.0's, but only own the original M&P9 1.0000. They are excellent guns and if I were buying my first one, I would definitely go for the 2.0's improved grips and sights. I am however attached to my M&P9 1, and the difference is not enough for me to replace it. If I get a 45ACP M&P, it will be 2.0.

Thanks to all that weighed in here. I won’t be able to p/u the pistol until this corona virus seclusion is over and it can be done safely.

When I first bought mine (M&P9 2.0), I came to hate the trigger. Just mushy and vague feeling. Now, after the addition of an Apex trigger, it's in my box of favorite shooters.

Having owned just about every kind of M&P, save the 2.0 in .45 and the 1.0 in .357SIG, the 2.0 is, hands down, one of the better of the current available plastic fantastic striker fired handguns. I tried almost all of the striker fired options and liked them a lot, but I find that I shoot the 2.0 better than the others.

You will be very happy with it, since the trigger is greatly improved over the early 1.0s. And they are better triggers than the Glock offerings.

$350 new? For research, can you point where they are available for that?

For comparison, Cabelas has them for $500. GunsAmerica $495. Buds is $529.

More to the point, I found a 2.0 with a hundred rounds through it. I was ready to get it today if I can reach the Seller. I thought it was a good buy for $300, but maybe not.

Your opinion?

That.

I have four of the S&W, M&P's. They are all the most dependable hand held auto's, in a class with 1911's, which I have also owned.

It was NIB. Bought at gun store in Florida that was on listed on WikiArms. They had the weird thumb safety model for $425 in 45acp. That sold right after i purchased mines.

You wait and search and check daily you csn find good deals.

I bought a MP9 2.0 Performance Center ( 11831) a couple of days ago but haven’t had a chance to shoot in. The trigger is far above any other polymer I have ever shot. I love the grip texture and the way it fits in my hands. I was dead set on this model and paid $649 not including shipping and tax which was probably to much but I got what I wanted.

I am a lefty who dealt with shooting without any passenger side controls for many years. Recently purchased a CZ p-10C, a Gen 5 Glock 45 and a 2.0 compact, all with slide lock/slide release, mag release for lefties. Like the 2.0 a lot but I am putting a forward set flatly trigger in it. Only down side is that the slide lock for lefties is almost useless! The left side one works fine but the right side does not. Glock and CZ both work as they should.

All of the good comments apply to my 2.0 4" Compact 9mm; however, the magazine does NOT freely drop! This is a problem with the Med Large or Large backstrap installed. A YouTube video says to use a heat gun sparingly to loosen the backstraps so they don't pinch the grip. I'd appreciate input from experts here to fix. Thanks.

Mind is also a 4.25 inch. I”ll check it out to see if it’s doing the same. I sure hope not! Goat, did it do it when it was new or after you shot it?

Ky Bob, Thanks for reply! Ever since it was new. Have only shot it a few 100 rounds and problem persists. Got my attention when I saw videos by Justin Opinion on YouTube where he demonstrated Compact 2.0 9mm and the magazines literally flew out when empty and he had just pressed the mag release button. In another thread here there were comments that the slide lock may be a factor. It is obvious that the ML and L backstraps are quite TIGHT and may be the culprits pinching the grip/magazine channel. Good project during this pandemic. Regards...

Okay. With no backstrap, or the Small, or the Medium backstraps installed, the empty magazine dropped free. With the ML and Large backstraps installed, the empty magazine "hung up" and not drop. Had to be manually extracted. Ten minutes with wife's hair dryer carefully applying heat and spreading the Large backstrap as shown on the YouTube video, empty magazine consistently drops free. Hooray.

And for the record I've not had any response in a week for the used 2.0 for $300. I'm guessing the guy sold it and then hasn't checked back to delete his post.

They make several different models of the same pistol so be careful if you’re looking to buy a certain one.
