Full size M&P Mags
Recently I built an AR9 which uses full size M&P 9mm magazines. I have an original M&P 9mm Pro which of course came with mags. Latter I bought a few spares. Now that I have this AR9 I see there is a difference in the followers. The old ones work fine with the last round hold open and the newer ones don't. Can one buy the old style followers and old mags?

All M&P factory Mags are still on sale. Academy and CDNN carry them to mention a few. My impression is that the 1.0 and 2,0 M&Ps use the same mags.

Was the second set of mags factory or a different brand aftermarket? The follower in factory mags has not changed dimensions or features (slide lock ledge) that I know of.

There was a follower design change but that was a few years ago. Can you post a top view pick of the magazines?
Here's a past thread.
What's up with the 9mm follower design change?
Please don't bump it.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you build and what did it cost?
I've been looking at buying or building an AR9.
Although its out of stock until April 13, 2020, this internet direct Extar EP9 for $419 looks interesting. It has the last round hold open and uses Glock mags.

Still interested in recommendations for a good, competitive $ource for full size 9mm M&P 17 shot magazines. Anyone? Anyone? Thanks...

Are you sure it's the old ones that are the problem?

Point of fact, they did change the follower design due to it not catching the slide lock.
Take a look:
New follower design on the left, old on the right. This change was made for both the 9mm and 40S&W.
You probably want the new design. If it's the new design you're looking for, S&W will replace them for free if you have factory mags.

Went ahead an ordered a couple of 17 round mags from Midway USA! Bad time to be shopping for anything. Midway has good stuff and supports shooting sports.
