Default Spec series pistol kit

Anyone have one of these? Is this some sort of collectable or something? I've seen them online for $500. A 5" 2.0 with night sights, a knife, and a coin.

Tempted. I already have an FDE 5” one that’s got for about $550 OTD. The extras are: night sights, knife and coin that may or may not be the draw for me.

I’ve seen people dislike the FDE and waiting for the black version. This is it if you want a black 5”. Price is okay as well.

I think the price is good, too. I might have to get one, courtesy of US Treasury Dept

Don't know about "collectible". I think not.

However, it's not a bad price for the package.

As said above, it's a black version of the FDE 5". Not CORE, not (likely) PC either. The knife is $21 on the S&W site. The coin? meh!!

I almost ordered one a week or so ago when Palmetto had them for $449.00.
Had to talk myself out of it because I would really like the 5" core model.

I was looking for my first M&P pistol and stumbled on the Spec series pistol. I did not know what the difference between a spec series and a regular 2.0 pistol. It wasn't even listed on the S&W website when I ordered mine. I was lucky enough to find it for under $400 before the price went up.

I received mine about 2 weeks ago. I have shot 300 rounds through mine already and I was surprised at how nice the trigger is since I did not like the trigger of the original M&P.

I wish they’d omit the coin and knife and just knock off a few bucks.

I purchased the spec model because it came with night sights for less then my LGS was selling the standard model M&P9 2.0.

I got mine courtesy of the treasury department. Also picked up the Ruger PCC for about the same price I paid for the pistol.

I’m still waiting for mine to ship!! Aarrggghh. Talked to Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore this morning-they’re so stacked with orders it won’t ship til middle of next week!

Outside of my general impatience I’m not in a huge rush to get it. LOL

Update: picked mine up yesterday, have a range session planned for tomorrow, Saturday. I'll post up a range report afterwards, love the way it balances, I may change out the trigger at some point-the 2.0 is much improved over the gen1 though there's still a long (to me anyway) take up.

Most important however is how it shoots. Stand by for that.

I just got one in a trade. Had 150-200 rounds through it. I like the 5inch bbl and that’s it black. I didn’t want the FDE. The coin is kinda cool and the knife is junk. I wish they had left it out. It cheapens the package IMHO. The shield logo on the slide isn’t that noticeable. Looks neat but unnecessary. The night sights are really bright. I don’t see a need to change them for my use. All I cared about was the gun and I really like it.
