M&P 45 M2.0
Hi!
New here and hello. I finally decided to drop the hammer on a new full sized M&P®45 M2.0... Bad timing, really. Should have started looking last November, I guess.
I know the plant is or was dealing with the flu. I see other S&W's coming in by and by....but nobody seems to have this one. I'd love to hear from someone who knows the prospects of when to see this one available again. Can't find anything but old reviews online. Many thanks!

Welcome. The .45 M&P's are kind of niche guns, 9's and to a lesser degree the .40's have the greatest demand.
I went in early with the 4" guns and glad I did. Glock 19 size and .45 ACP. They do well with a RDS and carry well.
Best advice, hope to get lucky . If you have a good local gun shop, get on their email alert system. Review the on-line auction sites and see if anything is moving.
Consider listing in Wanted to Buy sections on shooting forums. But let the buyer beware.
Good luck

Skip the .45 and the .40, and grab one in 9mm.
1. More shots means you stay alive.
2. Cheaper ammo means you shoot more.
3. Less recoil means you shoot faster.

I have a a Shield 9MM, a 2.0 Compact 9MM, and a Shield EZ 9MM. Excellent t guns. I also have a 2.0 .45. Laser beam in my hands and I love it. I surely wouldn’t feel less armed with it over my 15 round Compact 9MM.

I am waiting for and looking forward to someday getting the 45ACP S&W SKU 11769. Meanwhile, I got very attached my original M&P9 1.00000 so I will not be replacing it with 2.0.

Hard to beat the M&P45. I have four in the 1.0 and not sure there's much need to look at a 2.0. I tried a M&P 9mm 3.6" in 2.0. Not overly enamored with it and while the reset is more distinct, it lacks some of the ability to fine tune the original 1.0 M&Ps had. To my knowledge, the 2.0 Shields and 45s still retain the original trigger bar loop, which allows you to adjust where the sear breaks in the trigger stroke. If you're not into fine tuning, not a big deal.

98% of the time I'm carrying the .45 Shield instead of my other handguns.
I'd like to get a full-size .45 one of these days.
Don't really "need" it, I just want one.
I shoot my 5 inch MP9 really well, and don't feel at a disadvantage when it's stoked with 124 grain HSTs.
They expand to .66 caliber and penetrate 18 inches in gel.
Not too shabby for a "little" 9mm.

I don't know if I agree with any of those statements. Well, maybe #2, depending on your budget.
My EDC has been a 4" 9mm Compact and it's quite accurate from the 10 yards I usually shoot at the range.
A couple months ago I bought the same gun but in .45 caliber, and it's been even more accurate for me. I find it hard to envision a scenario where 15 rounds from the 9mm will get the job done but 10 rounds from the .45 won't.
And I was pleasantly surprised at how manageable the recoil is on the .45. I don't think it slows my target re-acquisition at all compared to the 9mm.

M&P 45
[QUOTE=B0308;140807529]Welcome. The .45 M&P's are kind of niche guns, 9's and to a lesser degree the .40's have the greatest demand.
Hiya!
I guess I'm gonna just be a hardcase. I always wanted a .45. They just shoot good for me. We have the original M&P Shield in 9mm. Fits nicely in the pocket.
The reviews for the full size gun are neck and neck with the Glock. Seen every vid made. I could have gotten one with a safety a month or so ago. Guess I should have pounced. Now I'm in wait mode. I don't know if S&W took the covid holiday or what. There are NO as in 0 M&P45 2.0 .45ACP out there anywhere and that includes 9's and 40's.
I have feelers out everywhere locally and on big time gun places. So that was why I was hoping somebody that actually knew what was going on at S&W might say. There was an arkle or two about how they got hit with the kung flu early on.
Hey, many thanks for hollering back! I'll keep watching.

I've been told by several career LEO that if you don't win a gun fight in the first three rounds odds are you're not going to win.
If the first three rounds are the most critical I'd rather put three large holes in someone than three little ones.
I love my M&P .45 and just bought a M&P 45 Shield M2.0 without the safety.
They are both excellent handguns.

M&P Mod 2 45acp PC
I am a die hard Springfield shooter but never liked my XDS 45. I saw the reviews on the M&P PC w/ red dot found what I wanted. It shoots better than my tired old eye and because its a Performance Center great trigger and action. But I have not found a holster for it. I have put 500 plus rounds thru it works flawlessly. I had a 500/500 first time out at15 yards that's a defense gun. By the way I am in a wheel chair.

I'm not a die hard Springfield shooter, but open to other reputable manufacturers. Also bought an XDS 45, pre Shield 45. Very accurate little firearm, beat the **** out of my hand and not very tolerable to shoot. The Shield 45 quickly usurped the XDS 45.
Have had some range time recently with my 1.0 M&P 45s and reminded how accurately "boring" they are. For those wanting to squeak out a bit more accuracy, the Storm Lake drop in barrels on close out at Midway are hard to beat.

That's me! I don't really need the 2.0. (For carry purposes we still have the trusty Shield 9.) Just always wanted a glockstyle .45. Comparing, I like the 2.0 better. And as for the 10 vs 17 bullet thing. In my humble opinion when you're up against it and you can't get the job done with one or two...then the rest of the mag won't help all that much. Not too many load on Sunday and shoot the rest of the week scenarios out there. Admitted, I'm a rank beginner compared to so many on here. I'm here to learn.

I am very pleased with both of these.
They are all I need or want as far as a semi-autos go.

There you go getting all practical.
From a practical perspective I agree with you. But sometimes a person just wants what they want and it isn't completely about practical.
Take my love for revolvers for instance...

Smith and Wesson M&P45 M2.0 Flat Dark Earth .45ACP 4.6-inch TFX Sights
Welp, a day late. I would have pounced on this. Saturday at our local mega gun shop I had NO expectation of finding a new one....and yet, there it was. I got mine...for Father's Day yet...like it was meant to be.
I'm as tickled as a speckled pup. Boy doesn't that thing feel great in the hand? And those shiny sights. Crazy good outdoors. I expect I'll have a go about mid-week. I'm a lucky guy! Super thanks for the heads up though. I went and looked. Nobody else has them that I have found.

Nice piece, ElNorm. Mine will look like that when I get around to blasting and coating it, plus it is going to have an Apex FDE trigger like my MP9 has.
I sold my PC .40 Shield with extra 9mm barrel, I was carrying and liking my .45 Shield more.
I Cerakoted my .45 Shield in FDE, and my 5 inch 9mm came from the factory in FDE.
So all 3 of my M&Ps will be FDE.

Skip the .45, get the 9.

What's wrong with having both ?

Or you could skip both of those and get the .22. Granted you won't have more shots but you will certainly have less recoil and cheaper practice.
I'm kidding of course as I have all three calibers. That's the best choice of all in my book.

If it was going to be for EDC I'd go with the .45.

Got an update! As you may know if you recall the thread I had just about given up on finding that pistol as they seem to have dried up nationwide. And then on Father's Day of all times POOF...I found one...even better than what I was looking for. The FDE model with the shiny nuclear sights. Desert motif. Wow!
Here's the update. Even before I found the gun I ordered some ammo via a somewhat elderly gift card from Bass. 5 boxes of their Herters brand at $16.00 a box. I was optimistic. This was on June 10. Well, today July 7 the darn things finally rolled in. On top of a couple or three boxes of this and that I found locally I'm jake on 45's.
Now...the next goal is to actually get where I can hit with the danged cannon. I'm not a natural by any means. (My uncle was a trick shooter and my dad could hit anything he was looking at. I missed those genetics.) But....with practice...I plan to quit shooting groundhogs and aim just a little higher!
Be positive!

I bought my M&P 2.0 in .45 because I had just gotten a 1911 from the CMP and wasn’t about to spend $35 for 100 rounds so I started reloading .45. I figured I wasn’t gonna shoot the 75 year old 1911 all that often so I bought a modern .45 and the M&P was the choice.
It is a laser beam in my hands. Head shots are a joke at 15 yards. Coke cans don’t stand a chance at 15 yards on the birm. 20 yards easily doable as well.
I just got another .45. A S&W 4566. Much prettier than the M&P but head to head last weekend the M&P smoked the 4566. I don’t regret getting it at all.

Yes, be positive, but use proper technique too.
Thumbs relaxed. Grip with the heel of your shooting hand and the middle and ring finger. Pinky relaxed. Move only your trigger finger as you have a hard focus on the front sight. The target will be a little blurry. That's OK because you're just aiming for the center anyway.
While keeping the sights aligned, slowly build pressure with your trigger finger until the gun goes off. It will be a surprise and that's a good thing.
Then with practice you'll learn to build that pressure faster.

My sentiments exactly! Why does it always have to be either/or?

I was able to buy my 2.0 new at a used price. The store took it back from the original buyer but had to sell it as used. Never fired, hard case, etc. First time I shot it I shot 150 rounds as the recoil was so low.

I have a 4566 and a 457. Both are very accurate but obviously noticeably heavier than a polymer. They have long since been retired simply because I've standardized my carry firearms and the double/single action takes time/practice. That said, neither are going anywhere and are much better investments than an M&P. Having spent some time now working with the 2.0 "redesigned" trigger bar and sear activation, I'll keep my Apexed 1.0s.

Looks like Vedder Holsters now makes holsters for the " M2.0 4" .45acp

I was on the S&W site yesterday and the M&P I was looking at said "On allotment". They can't make them fast enough to catch up with demand. You can call CS and talk to them.
