Default New 380 Shield for mom

Mom was wanting a handgun that would be good for her to carry daily and no other brand we looked at came close to what she was wanting like the S&W did.
Seems to be a great little pistol. Living out in the country she has a couple handguns at home but more utility type for use around the farm so now she has a nice carry weapon to take anywhere.

Smile S&W M&P Shield

Good to hear. Just ordered two (wife & myself) from my dealer. Can't wait. S&W is slammed with orders. Range where we practice is packed as is the CWP classes. Sad time in our country.
Things will get better I pray. God Bless America.

What is the best ammo for the 380 M&P Shield?
Thanks

Here are some sources of information:

Final Results of the .380 ACP Ammo Quest | Shooting The Bull

https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/sel...allistic-tests

The general problem with .380 self-defense rounds is that those that penetrate well tend not to expand, and those that expand well tend not to penetrate. There are few rounds that do both well. Shooting the Bull recommended Precision One and Fiocchi Extrema XTP rounds. Precision One rounds were hard to find, so I bought the Fiocchis, and that's what I use in our SIG P250. However, the Fiocchis may now be hard to find. Since the Shooting the Bull tests were published in 2013, Lucky Gunner has done additional tests, and among those results, the SIG Sauer V-Crowns look the best. The Hornady FTX Critical Defense rounds also did well in the Lucky Gunner tests, but did not do well in the Shooting the Bull tests. Maybe Hornady improved their FTX rounds since then, who knows?

Whatever round you choose, make sure it loads, fires, and ejects reliably in your gun. Test results are meaningless unless the round functions properly for you. Good Luck!

The Shield EZ in 380 is one of the best new guns on the market. It is a little large but its size produces little recoil and an easy to rack slide.
Upon its introduction, we have recommended this gun to a number of new shooters.
The large number of .380's being introduced most certainly has produced a number of great SD ammo choices. Penetration is very important but so is shot placement.

Not much choice for ammo around here at the moment, one shop only had one brand, the elite performance Sig jhp. another shop had a couple brands and a limit so i was able to get 2 boxes of Eagle fmj for some practice.
Never seen the gun cases so empty before.

Default S&W M&P Shield EZ 380

Thanks ya'll for the ammo info. Waiting for my new 380 EZ. I have Precision One Ammo for practice & a box of PPU Defense Line hollow point for protection. Is it good for the 380? Also, my dealer sells Fort Scott ammo that "tumbles" in the body when hit.
Anyone familiar with this ammo & does the 380 like it?
Thanks. New to the forum.

Using the Sig Sauer V Crowns in my wifes 380EZ without problem....sometimes tough to get but usually available at Sportsman Warehouse for us.

Default S&W 380 Ammo

Great info from everyone on the 380 ammo. Checking with SG Ammo and other web sites, WOW, everyone is out. Even my local gun dealer can't get any. Is this like the toilet paper problem?

Wife & I looking to get a S&W M&P Compact 22. Maybe we can get ammo for that easier!

Have a great 4th. God Bless America
