Looking for thoughts on an issue
Bottom line up front New M&P 2.0 9MM, after 45 rounds the gun stopped automatically extracting, ejecting spent casing & attempting to load a new round in the chamber.
Situation: New M&P 2.0 9MM w/4 barrel, cleaned and lubricated, took to range the next day for Myself and 2 sons to shoot. Federal American Eagle 115Grain FMJ AMMO
Each of us alternate shooting the gun putting 30 rounds through it I then take my next turn for 15 rounds. Son #2 in taking his next turn, inserts a mag, using the slide release advances the slide forward and takes a shot, BAM, gun works as advertised, then aims again, pulls trigger, click, no shot he keep the gun pointed down range for 30 seconds, releases mag, pulls slide back and casing extracts/ejects from chamber. Son reinserts mag in order to continue firing, same things happens again, gun shoots then next attempt goes click, repeat clearing with same results as before. Son inserts a different mag and gets the same results.
At this point I think he maybe he is limp wristing it all of a sudden, so I take the gun and you can guess the results, same thing. At that point the range official come by and I describe the problem. He says to let him take the gun and he will look it over he comes back about 10 minutes later and states he thinks the gun is a little dry, I reply, Its a brand new gun and was cleaned and lubricated the night before, he then says, well since it is new, it is a break in thing and will probably be fine in about 500 rounds. I am thinking that I understand the break in thing but I do not believe that is the cause of this issue.
So at this point my other son ask if he can try it and yes he experienced the same issue, only this time after the first click, he manually racks and it fires, manually racks again and it fires, he does this for 5 shots, I then take the gun and do the same thing, shoot then manually rack for another 5 rounds. At this point we put the gun away and shoot a 380 we had brought along.
So for 45 rounds the gun worked as advertised, then the issue started. On the drive home I am thinking that in the process of firing was the gun not charging itself, then I think no, the trigger was resetting. Then I thought, how is it we were not getting a feeding issue if the casing was not being extracted, then I thought the gun could not have been feeding the next round, because when we cleared the gun, the only thing that fell out was the spent casing, no new round. So not only was it not extracting the spent casing it was not trying to chamber another round either. So I am looking for thoughts, ideas on what the problem maybe. Remember, 3 different shooters all experience the same issue.
