Just What I Wanted
I’ve been in the market for a pistol in .40 S&W but with the handgun shortage due to the current craziness I had given up looking. This morning I was buying some things for a fishing trip next week and lo and behold the sporting goods store had the exact gun I was looking for. I am now the owner of a Performance Center M&P40, 5 inch barrel, 2.0 Pro Series. My old man eyes love the fiber optic sights and with the 15 round magazine it’s the perfect gun for my hiking. I will be taking it to the range tomorrow, you can bet on that.

Looks nice for sure. I don't have the gun myself but bought the Smith&Wesson M&P T-shirt at BassPro 2 weeks back. Check em out! Nice addition to your pistol.

Excellent choice. I love my M&P 40 compact. It has been my carry gun for over five years. I've looked at possible replacements, and I've never found one that I like better. Now that I've converted my 40c to a .357 SIG, I like it even more. I may never find a replacement now.

Oh man this is a sweet shooting gun. It took me about a magazine of ammo to get used to the feel of the trigger. I had very tight groupings at 7 yards with the exception of my fliers. Obviously the S&M is more accurate than I am. I love the fiber optic sights and with the barrel length it really puts me spot on at 7 yards. Handling the pistol yesterday I thought the texture of the grip was a bit rough but I didn’t even notice it while shooting today. The range was crowded today so I didn’t stay as long as I normally would with a new gun. Tomorrow I’ll move the target out to 25 yards and see how I do.

Good for you!
I've been enjoying my M&P .40 for the past +5 years. I still carry one of my 1911's, but the M&P .40 is a regular "ride along" companion.

Well I must say, Internet videos show a much easier way to field strip the M&P40 pro series than what the owners manual details. You don’t even have remove the frame tool or mess with the sear deactivation lever.
It’s a funny thing, for some reason the fact that this pistol doesn’t have a manual safety bothers me somewhat. I never use the safety on my other pistols anyway but not having one plays with my mind.
Regardless, I love shooting this S&W.
