School me/ steel me on a Sheild 2.0 45 ACP
I am looking at getting a new gun & I saw a shield in 45 acp on our local forums. What are the pros and cons from those who have them?
I currently have a shield 1.0 in 9mm, G43 and recently got a 365 and shoot them reasonably well. I had a G30 I also shot reasonably well, but found it a bit thick to carry. Didn’t care for the XDS in 45.
So what do you like most and dislike or if possible would change?
Thanks in advance

The 45 is my favorite shield. It is a little bigger than my 9 but the recoil is nicer for me.
I know that is very subjective but has been my experience. Anymore if I am going to carry a 9 then I carry my 9c for the increased round count.
The 45 is also my woods gun as of late.

A few months ago, I posted a detailed report on my long-term experience with my three M&Ps, my Shield 45, my Shield 9, and my M&P 40 compact. It's a long post, so I'll give you an executive summary: The Shield 45 is a superb gun. If you like your Shield 9, you will love a Shield 45. Here's the post:

My advice is to buy it before someone else does.

I have a Shield 9mm 1.0 and a Shield 45. Both are great shooters and I don't know that I could choose one over the other. I can't really think of any cons for the 45 ACP, except perhaps capacity. But with the 7 round mag, it carries the same number of rounds as many 1911s

I don’t know what the difference is in the 2.0 but I really like my .45 Shield. It has a nice trigger. First time out I was nailing bowling pins @ 25 yards in spite of the fact I am no “Deadeye Dick”. Mine has the thumb safety.

I have the Shield (M1.0) 9, the Shield .45 and a Shield 9 4" PC with the red dot. I love all three, so much so that I'll probably get a Shield 9 M2.0 soon. I've owned and shot a lot of .45's from the 1911s to the Glock 21, 30, and 30S, Kahr PM45, Springfield XDs, the M&P .45 FS M2.0 and the Shield .45 w/safety. I am very impressed with the Shield .45. The safety just happened to be on the pistol and was not a feature I was looking for, but I've had no problems with it. I may never use it, but it's there if I decide I need it.
The Shield .45 carries very nicely and is just a fraction bigger than the Shield 9. I find no problem in concealing it. I use it when I'm in the desert or mountains, or any time I feel the need for a heavier round than the 9mm. It is accurate and reliable. I've never had a malfunction of any kind with it, using both JHP and LHP, as well as FMJ in weights fro 165 gr. to 230 gr. This pistol gets a lot of carry time, and I trust it completely.

I like my Shield .45. It's my usual nightstand and "ready" gun. I'll tell you how that came to be. At one time. I was using a full size M&P .357 SIG for that purpose. I live on 5 acres in a semi-rural area, with a long gravel driveway. A few years ago, I was on the phone with my girlfriend one evening, after dark. A car drove up my drive, and curved out of sight towards my pole barn. I hung up and grabbed the M&P. That was when I realized it's too big to fit in the back pocket of my jeans without risking it falling out. I didn't want to go outside with the gun in my hand, but still, I wanted a hand on the gun. So I ended up going out with my Bodyguard .380. The driver was an apologetic old woman, who was confused and thought my driveway was a gravel road.
So, I decided to get something smaller that would still have major league punch. There was a $75 rebate at the time, so my total out of pocket cost came in under $300.
More recently, my doorbell rang one morning about 5:30. Looked out the living room window to see two guys I didn't know, so I cranked open the window to ask what they wanted. Right hand on the Shield, which was in my back pocket. They were from up the road, tracking some escaped cows across my property and were giving me a courtesy notification.
I bought the manual safety model. Personal choice. I won't carry a striker fired gun without a manual safety. YMMV.
There's nothing I would change about it. Very soft shooting with 230 gr hardball, very accurate. I have a fiber optic front sight on mine, so I guess there was one thing I changed.
I have a Galco Stow N Go IWB holster for it, and a Desantis OWB. I have carried it all day, but rarely. My usual carry is a 642, and J frame airweights spoil you. But there are times when I want more firepower on me, and the Shield .45 fits the bill.
Sorry if I rambled. The Shield shoots pretty damn well for no larger than it is, is very reliable, and very soft shooting. Zero regrets with my purchase.

I have the 4" 45acp PC and my wife has a 4" 9mm PC without optics and we love them. We also have the 3.5" and 3.1" PC versions as well. Even though I own/shoot the 45's i believe my wife's 4" 9mm is the best shooter. The 45 is the better shooter in the shorter version IMO. For performance, accuracy, concealment, and price the Shield line might be the best.

Love my two Shield 45s. One with, one without, a TLR-6. They keep up right up with my M&P45 FS and Cs when it comes to shootability. Recently worked out both and their accuracy is just plain boring. As long as you do your part, they'll do theirs. While it is a short barreled, polymer, 45, much more pleasant to shoot than the XDS45. Just remember to match the ammo to the firearm and you'll be happy.

I am a big fan of Springfield Armory guns (own 7) but I must say the XDS 45 was something. I had the first gen of the gun and compared shooting it to holding a p***ed off bobcat in your hands. Shield all day everyday wins this battle, agree with you. The Shield is a more accurate pistol also due to the ease of shooting.

My .45 Shield is the one that I usually grab.
Very accurate with a great trigger
Small enough to conceal, big enough to shoot well.
My confidence factor is high with it.
Mine is stock, with the exception of TruGlo sights and FDE Cerakote

Totally agree on the XDS-45. Have one, now retired, would sell if given the opportunity. Very accurate little firearm, but will beat the daylights out of your palm.

I like my Shield 45. I have been told by reliable sources that all 45 Shields are 2.0. It has replaced all my other go to CC Hg's. I shoot 200g LSWC from a Lyman mold over 231 powder, or American made 230g FMJRN. @ 600 rounds the quarks have settled down. I stoned some sharp ledges on the slide face and where the trigger bar depresses the safety plunger. I would prefer not to have the safety plunger but i am not stupid enough to remove it. I have a thumb safety on the frame. I like it, some don't. Don't use it if you don't want to. "...they all fall to hardball ". Add a Houge "Hand All" for better grip if your hand is big enough to pen your name in the snow.

I have a 1.0 9mm and a 2.0 Shield.45 PC.
If you go for the .45, take a good look at the PC version.
I believe a much better trigger and the porting does make a difference, IMHO. It's a comfortable, soft shooting gun--not snappy like the 9mm--that carries well.

My wife shoots my 45 Shield better than her 9mm Shield and likes it more.

Just shortly after they came out I bought a Shield 45 as a gift for my son. It was going to be his carry piece so I took it out to make sure everything functioned properly. That little Shield was amazing. I enjoyed shooting it so much that before I knew it a week had gone by and I'd put a few hundred rounds through it (I live next to the forest and can shoot whenever I want). At that point of course I had to buy another one for my son. I know this is going to draw some criticism but, I enjoy shooting it more than my Sig P220. At 20 meters there isn't enough difference in accuracy to justify the larger heavier pistol. If you get one I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I have a M&P 45 and recently purchased my 45 Shield M2.0 and love it.
I have zero interest in a 40, 9mm or a 380.
I carried a M642-1 for years and now my 45 Shield is my EDC.
Went to the range the other day and the bad guy lost.
I had a Glock model 36 and it was junk so I replaced with my 45 Shield.

I never did enjoy shooting my Glock 36. Besides having jamming problems it never did feel good.
Its awesome having a gun range in your backyard.

The .45 Shield is solid! I like mine a lot. In fact, I sold my shield 9 and picked up a Sig P365 but the .45 Shield is staying. Minimal recoil for a serious round coming from a small package.

Great Gun I have the Shield 45 2.0 and its laser like accurate. I describe it as I really DO not have to concentrate to shoot this gun well (same goes for my P-365).
Well over 1,00 rounds have not had a single malfunction. 100% reliable and very accurate, what more can One ask for??

I love mine! Eats any ammo I've fed it without any issues whatsoever. I painted the front sight's white dot orange for greater contrast with the rear sight & put a Hogue grip sleeve on it. All I do now is shoot it- very accurate!

Got a Shield .45 at an USAF Base Exchange, lik d it so much, bought another one. Bigger and probably a bit heavier than my Shield 9's.
About a 1,000 rounds through each, no malfunctions with ball or JHP ammo. They carry well in a JM kydex AIWB holster. Both with thumb safety.
Go gor it!
