No, I have a M&P9 that I bought used about 20 years ago. It makes almost every range trip. Has been carried in a holster and has never missed a beat. Was your weapon purchased new?

Trigger bar rubs against the slide stop. There is a pad on the slide stop to give you a pronounced reset. The more you shoot it the less you feel it.
Or Apex Forward set trigger kit makes it a totally different handgun on the ++ side. Most gen 1 don't have much if any tactile reset click. That pad on the 2.0 is what gives you the click on reset. Shooting it usually wears it in.

The trigger bar also pushes up on the firing pin block. Something that doesn't happen with the slide off. It's totally normal.

Sounds like it's working perfectly. The trigger bar does push on the right side slide stop to increase the feel of the reset.
