Hello... I noticed some wear to my barrel hood. Hopefully, you can see the scratch? The gun only has 500 rounds through it. It functions fine. Did I do something wrong?IMG_20200617_201443.jpg

It's not really visible... are you talking about that tiny mark on one of the ridges, right at the slide?
Frankly, it's pretty insignificant. Firearms get scratches from use all the time, unless you put it in a sock and leave it in a drawer. It's nothing to worry about, honestly.
Now, there are some marks that do indicate a problem. I can't think of any right off the top of my head, but when things don't align properly, it can cause marks and damage. Just keep looking it over whenever you use it and feel free to ask when you see something perplexing. Just don't be afraid to go shooting!

Looks ok to me. The only way to prevent such wear is to never fire the weapon.

Scuffs and rubs are normal. Guns are tools and they get used.

Default A teeny bit of oil......

...can go on the hood because that is the part that ramps the barrel down during operation. As per manual.
