M&P .40 FS 15 Round Magazines
Which aftermarket mags are best to avoid? Is PRO-MAG one of them?

Why buy after market? I would avoid them all, but especially ProMag.

IMHO, only the MECGAR (who makes the S&W mags) are worth spending any $$ on. Save up.

Unfortunately, you are trying to buy...
A. In a panic buying frenzy.
B. While Cali members are lighting up the online sellers trying to get mags before the carpet is ripped out from under them.
Before the covidpocalypse hit you could regularly find new M&P mags for 20 bucks if you caught them onsale. Now you are left paying panic prices for goods, buying junk, or buying used.
I would buy the used before I paid panic prices, and I'd pay panic prices if I had to. I would not under any circumstances by aftermarket junk. I've been there. I lived through the ban and bought Promag magazines for the Glock. They were garbage new, and garbage now.

Check E-Bay too, last month I bought 4 mags for my FS 45 for $14 each.
They were sold as being used, but they sure looked new to me.

I'm NOT a panic buyer. I have 3 LE trade in M&P 40's with a total of 9 mags. I just want to buy a few extra before November.

I have had a good experience with the ETS magazines for both M&P and GLOCK in 9mm... Those used M&P magazines may need a new floorplate (mine did) or an extended one might just fill the bill: otherwise the spring and follower on the one I received looked almost new.
Cheers!
