Where is the crack supposed to be?
I see some marks but nothing that looks cracked. Though I feel comfortable saying a crack in your barrel would not be normal ...

If there is in fact a crack, stop using it and contact S&W before you chamber another round. Great way to lose a hand to shrapnel.

OK, I see the line you're talking about. Is it something new? From here it looks like a tool mark of some kind but with just a static picture it's hard to get a good read on it.
Does your fingernail catch in it? And can you see anything on the side like it's growing?
If there's actually an open gap of any kind there, it's definitely not normal. I'm surprised only one other has chimed in. This crowd usually loves a good forensic analysis.

I admit that my eyesight isn’t as good as it once was but, I don’t see a crack on the right side. I do see what appears to be a horizontal scratch on the left side. One thing that might help is a good cleaning then, take a picture using a pointer to indicate the crack in question.

Get a few close up's , with side angles and get them sharply in focus .
It's hard to tell things from small photo's on this side of the screen .

Don't own a Shield, but I did a quick look on the Interwebs and that doesn't seem to be normal for Shield barrels, at least the ones I found.
I'd suggest e-mailing S&W customer service and attach all the photos you've taken and see what they say.
In the meantime, I'd also suggest being prudent and not shooting the gun until you get a response from S&W.

Nothing to be concerned about. That's just the way it is from the factory. It isn't a crack/split of any kind. Just a high spot machined into the barrel lug. Here's a pic of my Shield 2.0 9mm barrel to ease your worries. No need to bother S&W, no need to get all concerned over something that isn't a problem....Go shootin'.

Our Shield 45's looks just like that. Might be something new on the 2.0 models.

Looks like a 2.0 feature. My 1.0 doesn’t have it either.

I have one
I have the same tool mark. There is a small indentation on the right side of the barrel it doesn't go into the bore. Mine is the 2.0 9mm.
