Shield EZ vs 3953
Have an EZ now. Nice belt gun. Had a 3953 years ago. Looks to be about the same size but 3953 heavier. So given the choice of an EZ 9 or a 3953 to carry on your belt, which would it be? I saw a used 3953 locally but with parts and mags being scare I don’t know. I like the Shield EZ and have no plans to dump it. Just wondering if 3953 would be kind of redundant

My everyday carry gun is a 3953. I like the weight and balance of the 3953; plus, it is a tack driver for me. I prefer the simple manual of arms this DAO model for my CCW choice.

I personally think the 9mm Ez is a Great carry gun for most people. I have carried most all of the popular carry guns. Although I have not carried 3953. I have carried the S&W models 469 and 6904. Along with many other brands.

I have a number of M&P's including Shields but not an EZ. I have a greater number of 3rd gens including a 3954. I like both platforms but must admit I enjoy the 3rd gens a little more. They certainly look better in my eyes and I like the way they feel in the hand. I shoot both platforms about the same but I carry M&P's more often than 3rd gens. I'm not attached to my M&P's like I am my other stuff so they're "expendable."
I don't find much difference carrying a 3954 vs. a Shield in terms of comfort and the weight difference between the two isn't enough to matter to me. If you're just after a carry gun then I think the EZ should serve you well. If you're looking more pride of ownership AND a good carry gun then the 3953 will win out every time.

I've owned, and carried a 3953 since 1991, and have a spare.
I will admit to be working on a couple of Shields to replace my 3953's.
It kills me to do it, but it seems like the right thing to do.
Hard (at least for me) to "retire" a handgun that has been at your side for almost 30 years.
Good luck in your choice.
