Shooting left
I have an m&p shield 9mm that consistently shoots left. Not only for me but three others have shot the pistol with the same results
At 10 yards, 5 to 6 inches left. This is with the front sight centered. After drifting the front sight to the left, it has improved to 3 to 3 inches left but the front sight is NOTICEABLY to the left. Has anyone else this experience with the shield and if so how did you remedy it? Should not the front sight be in the middle of the slide? This pistol was bought new in box and the rear sight had not been touched

Drift the rear sight to the right. It may change POI enough to bring the front sight back towards the centre.
Although I do change the front sight for windage on my pistols that have a front sight dovetail it is only after making rear sight corrections first.

I agree with Kiwi cop. Typically, if the front sight is centered, drifting the rear sight is the first step.
I will suggest, though, that if the front and rear sights are centered on the slide, and multiple people shooting it are consistently grouping to the left, there could be an issue with how the barrel was fit to the slide.
If centering the front sight and only slight adjustments to the rear sight are necessary, then it's probably fine. But if you really have to crank the rear sight over in order to get centered groups, you may want to consider contacting S&W customer service about the issue and see what they say.
Just my opinion.

During transition training, we saw hitting left quite a bit on the M&Ps. In most cases, it wasn't either the barrel or the sights, but management of the trigger. OK, you had other people shoot it. Do they regularly shoot a Shield? If so, do they/you shoot to center with theirs? If they're also new to the Shield/M&P series, it may not be a valid test.
I've never shot or handled a Shield, but with a full size gun, correcting a POI error of that magnitude at that range, would need a sight correction on the order of 1/10 inch.

Set screw loctite
Does s&W use red loctite on the rear site set screw? If so, how do you get it to break loose?

Is it a 1.0 or 2.0 shield? the 5/6" groups @ 10 yards was all shooters shooting the Shield off hand? If so shoot the Shield from a rest, shoot 5 shoots and center the group to determine # of inches from point of aim. Now if its is 5 or 6 inches I would return it to S & W as that to much of a spread for 10 yards. So with that said, I wouldn't drift the rear sight as their an issue with the barrel fit. Now for the record, most M & P line does shoot a tad left, some worse than others. My 3 1.0's shot left, sold them off and replaced them with 2.0's, they shoot POA.

Yeah I agree with the previous posts.
Try to control the variables and get a true determination of the precision.
If needed, return to factory otherwise factory may claim warranty void because you messed with it!
Good luck.

For me, this was corrected on a Shield 9 1.0 with more finger on the trigger. As a primarily revolver shooter, this is still uncomfortable, but that does pull my shots to the right.
