Just picked up this new in box M&P9 1.0 version. From what research I've done, its a Belgian National police contract over-run pistol. It has night sights, loaded chamber indicator and a frame mounted safety. Pistol DOES fire without a magazine inserted. Original owner says pistol was bought at an Academy Sports store which matches my research. I paid $380 and got a 50 rd box of ammo to boot.

Put 100 rds through it a few days ago, all without any problems. Seems like a good deal so far, now I have a few questions.

Anyone put a reduced power striker spring in these pistols to lighten the trigger? Will it effect reliability?

Factory recoil spring is marked with blue paint, is this the same as all other 1.0 versions of this pistol? What is the poundage of this blue marked spring?

As a Californian, anytime I see prices paid for guns in "free" states, it makes me squirm and wish I lived anywhere but CA.

I wouldn't mess with the striker spring, that might very well affect reliability.
Try a lighter trigger return spring instead.

Apex Tactical makes kits for M&P's that greatly improve trigger pull.

I've put an Apex trigger with their Duty Carry kit in a couple M&P's and it makes for a smoother pull.
But now that I think about it, you get a slightly lighter pull by using their components along with the stock trigger return spring, than if you used the Apex trigger return spring.

But I still wouldn't mess with changing out the striker spring, never heard of anyone doing or recommending that.
I can't remember what color the RSA is on my 2.0, but I don't think it's blue.
I'll have to look at it later today when I go shooting.

There's a fix for that.

I'd suggest processing a few more than a hundred rounds before considering any modification. Whether a manufacturer admits it or not, there is definitely a 'break-in' period, if not for the weapon, then for the shooter.

My Shield 9 gen. 1 is five years old now, and the ONLY modification I've done to it is an application of Talon Grip tape. That pistol can do no wrong...

So shoot, shoot, shoot!!

I have the Apex duty/carry kit in my 1.0 compact. First let me explain that in an M&P the trigger spring works the opposite of a Glock. You are pulling against the trigger spring in the M&P because the striker is fully cocked by slide cycling. So you can leave the striker spring alone. Apex makes several different parts depending on what you want to accomplish. I actually wanted to increase the trigger pull weight in mine since it is my EDC gun. So the Apex duty/carry kit comes w/ a stronger trigger spring and a new sear. The stronger spring increases pull effort the full length of trigger travel. The new sear is different in that, as Sandog says, it decreases the effort needed to fire the shot if it were the only part you replaced. The end result of the spring and sear together is that the pre-travel is heavier than stock but the final effort to fire the shot is not increased as much as you might expect. Mine is about 5.5# but it is a nice smooth pull. So look through the Apex offerings and see if any will do what you want.

Ditto on the APEX Duty Trigger Kit. It totally changes the trigger pull in the 1.0. We prefer the 1.0 due to the smoother grip texture.

On any M&P semi auto's I've had I always have installed just the Apex sear. It makes a pretty tremendous difference in the trigger pull without changing any springs.
