Default M&P 9mm EZ mag fell out

So the other morning while I was putting my holstered pistol on my belt I had an empty mag well. I had lots of scary thoughts going through my head but when I got in my truck it was laying on the seat. Is this a common problem with the EZ? I'm still waiting for a custom holster I ordered and using an inexpensive one off of e-xxx, not sure if that's the culprit or not but I don't need that kind of surprise again.

This is why cheap *** holsters off of e-XXX should be avoided like the plague.

A quality rigid holster will allow a smooth and quick draw, protect the user from the weapon and the weapon from UNINTENDED manipulation, and retain the weapon.

Bottom line don't trust your life to the cheapest thing you can find.

Default Holster

I had a holster that covered the mag eject button and it caused my magazine to eject. I had to return it and have it altered so the holster didn't cover the ejector.

I’d say that was likely a holster cause. I had some generic one sitting around that seemed to fit my EZ well enough to use just while doing some stuff out in family property. After searching a half hour for my missing mag (finally found thankfully) i realized that holster did rub up against the button as I moved around.
Never had that issue when using my Crossbreed that was made for the EZ.

I had an idea it might have been the holster. I'll wait on the 9mm until the custom one gets here.
Thanks for the replies.

It could be the holster, but it could also be you. I've seen it many times where a shooter inserts a mag, but doesn't get it seated fully. If that happened, the mag catch could put enough pressure on the mag to hold it in place for a while, but since it's not in the notch, the mag can easily be pulled out or fall out by getting caught on something or just some motion.

This is not a criticism of you, just another thing to think about.

After 7 weeks my holster is now "in production" so I'll find out soon enough if that was the cause. In the meantime, the j-frame is back in service.
