Strike Industries EMP for Smith and Wesson M&P Shield (9mm and .40S&W)
Anyone try one of these? Plus 2 for both magazines. It would give my Shield 9mm 9+1 and 10+1. Price is right.
enhanced, magazine, plate, magazineplate, magplate, m&p, shield, empmps, emp-mps, m&pshield, emp, extension, magextension,

While I like the idea, but I have to question the long term use of any device that uses the same magazine spring in something that essentially makes the ammo stack an inch taller and heavier. I know there were reliability issues with the Pearce Grip brand +2 mag extensions for the the Glock 26/27 after they had been in use for awhile. The slides began to out run the over-extended magazine springs ability to raise the last 2 rounds quickly enough to be picked up by the slide.

Wouldn't that make the grip frame as long as standard 1911?
I'd go with Magguts "innards" instead.

Haven't tried them but look alright. They appear shorter than the Hy-Vee and other aluminum +2 options, longer than magguts, but they are cheaper than just about any of the other extensions out there.

If this mod to one or more mags is for concealed carry rather than range plinking, cheap is usually not a good qualification for purchase.
I have four MagGuts +2 extensions with their springs and followers. They have all worked perfectly for many hundreds of rounds each over the last three years.
Others may work as well, but I’ve had no reason to try anything else. The additional cost amortized over years is inconsequential to me. The reputation for good engineering and reliability has value greater than $$.

You have a good point there. Thanks.

It is the length of the grip, not the slide, that makes the gun harder to conceal.

At that price I think I'd be willing to give them a shot, their stuff has always been quality. Thanks for bringing these to my attention...

Strike Industries EMP for Smith and Wesson M&P Shield (9mm and .40S&W)
I was looking at these for my two Shields but after reading on website that they’re only for flush fit mags, (I already added pierce grip extensions) don’t see that much of an advantage.

As info, the website says "The EMP+2 WILL work on the larger capacity factory magazines but with a noticeable gap between the EMP and pistol grip. The factory spacer will not fit flush with the EMP without slight modification."

I have added the Strike Industries +2 extension to my 7 round magazines and love them so much I traded my 8 round magazines for 3 more 7 round magazines (no cost trades) and added the Strike Industries +2 extension to them. They are now my daily carry and I love them. Over 1000 rounds through them with no problems at all.

Got a couple X-Tech Tactical mag extensions for 9mm Shield. Great products: very rea$onbly priced, include correct spring, fit perfectly with no extra hardware to attach. Great mag improvements!

Well based on Raisin's post and the out of pocket cost, I took the plunge and bought 2 of these. I installed one on the 7 round mag and it looks and feels great/matches the handle perfectly. It is just a little longer than the OEM 8 round. I was going to put the other one on the 8 round to make it 10 round but I think the handle will be just too long. Haven't been to the range yet but I believe it will work just fine.
