Default EZ load Mags........

Good morning all, I'm just waiting for my license here in Ct on 12/11/2020. I'd like to get as my first gun the M&P 9MM 2.0 4" compact. I'm curious if the EZ load mags will work in this gun. My hands are fine for racking, but my fingers would probably appreciate the EZ mags. Are they compatible?

Thanks Bill

No, the EZ mags are single stack while the M&P 2.0 are double stack. If you have difficulty loading the mags, pick up an Uplula mag loader. They're great.

Thiokol...... Thank you for your very prompt response. Just curious, how were you able to add "US Veteran" under your name, is that related to your time on this site, or military status?

Thanks, Bill

It's for my military service but I didn't add it. I've been a member here for a long time and, if I remember correctly, I think that perhaps Handejector is the only one that can make that addition.

Thiokol.......OK, thank you for the information on the name thing. I was never really proud of it for many years due to public opinion (stupid now as I look back) but I'm now a very proud Vietnam Vet and liked seeing that under your name. One more quick question if you don't mind. Is The Shield EZ 9mm that much more overall inferior then the regular M&P 2.0?

I just remembered how to get US Veteran under your name. Click on your name at the top of the page. On the right side you’ll see “Join Social Groups”. Join the US Vets group and that should do it.

As for the quality of the Shield EZ, I would think that it’s quality is as good as any S&W pistol and your choice would come down to which pistol you prefer.

Bill, I have both the original Shield 9 and just purchased the 9 EZ. The Mrs like the Shield, so it’s been her gun, I saw the 9 EZ and knew she’d like it, so I bought that one a few weeks ago. I’m on the fence if I’ll part with the first one or not.

That said, the 9 EZ is all they say it is and more. I put an APEX trigger on the first Shield, it made it like the 2.0. The EZ is just as good, as the 2.0, IMHO. It has an excellent trigger and reset.

At this point in time, you will be good with whatever you can get your hands on, be it the original, the 2.0 o an EZ. Just go for it....

And thank you for your service!

Back to loading mags—any mags—if there is an Uplula model that works for your gun/model, get one or two. Definitely worth it. Between rifles and handguns I believe I own about 10.

However, one of my best resources for loading mags and cleaning guns is my grandchildren who I often take shooting. They need to learn. They know my ammo they shoot costs $$ as well as the guns, and they are willing. I usually have 4-5 mags loaded per gun when we go out. If we shoot that, then they load more at the range. Delegation. Teaching.

I have a 9EZ and it is a great gun. Comparing it to the 1.0 Shield I used to have is a little "apples to oranges" but the 9EZ is much easier to operate....the trigger is light and crisp with no over travel and quick reset, magazines are a cinch to load, slide requires half of the force required to rack and the manual safety is positioned perfectly. Yes it is slightly larger than the Shield but I like having the longer grip I can get all 3 fingers on and the extra slide length is still easy to conceal.

With Veterans Day approaching I would like to take the opportunity to recognize all of my fellow veterans who are following this thread, in particular to those of my generation who served during the Vietnam years, and express my thanks for your service to this country.
My brother-in-law was a Marine veteran who served in combat and although he made it home, the war eventually caught up to him when he passed several years ago from illnesses linked to exposure to Agent Orange.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your post, and also would like to thank YOU for your service. You might remember we weren't very popular back then, so when anyone recognizes us now it means so much more.

First thank you for your service. None of us ever expected anything special just to be accepted and appreciated for our service to our wonderful country. In those days we weren't and to make it worse we were actually hated. I was and still am very proud to have served and always will be. There is no place on earth like the USA!! My heart goes out to you for your BIL and the rest of your family as I too am still fighting cancer from agent orange. It never leaves our bodies I am told. Again thank you for your service, it was truly appreciated.

Thank you for your informative post. I'm happy to read any positive first hand responses from 9EZ owners. Unfortunately I still have to wait until 12/11 to get my state license here in Ct so I want to be ready to try and get a gun that I actually would like. I've been trying out several at the range and I like the SW's and Springfield's.

Thank you for your very helpful post. While I wait for my license (12/11) the guns I've tried at the range other then the SW's are definitely much harder for me to load the magazines. My fingers, well actually a lot of me, is pretty well shot (no pun intended) at this point in my life. I'm glad you mentioned not only the loaders but the names of ones you use and are happy with.

You're welcome Bill, I am glad to help if I can. The Uplula loader is great to have to help with magazine loading. I also have a Sig P365 and it is near impossible to load the entire 10 rounds in a mag without one (also pretty well shot myself!!).
Do you have to wait until you have your license to purchase a pistol there in Connecticut? I guess thats the norm when you live in a democrat state. I lived there in the 70's and 80's off and on when I was stationed at the Sub Base.
One thing I did to my 9EZ was to paint the sights contrasting green and orange. It helped a lot to get a good sight picture, especially with these old eyes.

I too am one to add color (I use nail polish) to at least the front when i get something with 3 white dots. As my grandpa eyes like the contrast, and as i have other guns with a fiber optic front it gives me some uniformity.

MTC(SS)Ret, Yep no license I can't even legally buy a magazine, not that I need one yet. Here we have to take and pass the NRA course, then go online and schedule an appointment with the local PD for fingerprints. The schedule is usually booked for 3-4 weeks out but as I was monitoring it an a appt opened 2 days after my test, lucky on that one. But after that as I was waiting the 4-6 weeks for the local PD to process my application I noticed the State Police (where we get the permit) their schedule was out to Dec and that was in Sept. So I scheduled my appt for 12/11 hoping my city temp permit would be completed. That's good for nothing, you just have to have that when you go to the St Police for the permanent permit which is good for 5 years and is open and conceal carry. Sorry to bore you with all that but then again it probably makes you want to jump for joy that you live where you do. Anyway I'm going to order a couple of those loaders today to use at the range until I get my permit. Oh and the range where I took the NRA test allows us to shoot there with the NRA certificate as long as you got it at their range so I do appreciate that. OK, blabbed enough, going to the Uplula site now and check that out. Thank you again for your help and hope you have a great weekend.

billjr47, sure is a lot of red tape you have to go through to get a permit...at least once you have it CT allows open carry. I know there are a lot of opinions out there that open carry makes you a "target" and I guess it makes sense, but I would prefer to have my own choice to conceal or not.
When I got my permit here in FL about 7 years ago it took me about an hour start to finish. As a veteran I was not required to take a safety class or do a range test. Fingerprints were taken right there and I walked out with a permit.
Have a great weekend as well and stay safe!!

Bet that loader would work on a Ruger MK? whatever 22 pistol too..
Have something like that in my ammo range bag somewhere + a few others for 10/22s etc.. Have to go have a look in the NRA ammo bag stash.. Maybe the S&W range bag or the SIG Sauer one???
Need an UpLula I have wanted one for way over a decade or two now, Since I first saw one.. They are the Bee,s Knee,s..
