Used M&P9 with a surprise
A local shop that has a website listed a used M&P 9 in FDE for $350 today. I went to look at it, not expecting much more then a pistol and 1 mag at that price. When I got there, they hadn't even put it out yet. It did show wear, mostly holster wear I think. But it came with case, paperwork, 3 back straps, and 3 17rd mags. I also found the fired case envelope, it's dated Jan. '09.
The surprise, besides all that came at that price, was next to the envelope. I found a man's gold wedding ring. I will take it back to the store tomorrow. Hopefully they will have someone's name. The pistol was with about 8 other guns they just got in. It may have been someone's collection, or an estate sale.
Here's a pic, the gun, not the ring.

That certainly looks like a good find and at a good price. Good for you for trying to find the owner of the ring. That is the right and honorable thing to do.

Congratulations, both on finding and outstanding deal and for being an outstanding guy.
Seriously, a lesser man would be posting the exact same thread, but bragging about how they scored not only an M&P at a fantastic price, but scoring some poor chump's wedding ring with no intention of returning it.

I think it sounds a little like the beginning of a Twilight Zone episode
You parents raised you well. Enjoy your pistol guilt free.

Well, judging by the price, they are not in the habit of ripping off their clientele.

I called the store yesterday and made them aware of the ring I found. I just got it back there a little while ago. I dropped it off with a salesman who's an ex-Marine. He promised me he would call the guy they bought it from. I probably won't hear anymore about it but, I did what I could.
We got more rain and snow flurries today. I'm hoping we have good weather tomorrow so I can go out to the range and shoot the M&P.
Thanks for all the comments guys

Awesome score. Especially for a FS 9mm. usually only see 40s and most of the time they are LE trade ins.
I need to find me a good deal like that since i plan to use my 2.0 for competition. Need to get a new night stand gun lol.

Just thought I'd do a follow up. I got it to the range today. It shot great. I had a Sig and a Beretta with me too. I shot the M&P best and enjoyed it the most. Only complaint, I did have a number of ejected shells hit me on the head. Actually, the Beretta did that too. I was shooting cheap Federal 115gr. FMJ bulk box ammo. That may have been why. I have some 147gr and 124gr, and some HP ammo, but since I would have no luck replacing it, I'm not willing to shoot it right now.
The range did have one box of Aquila 38spl, 130gr FMJ. 50 round box for $35. It's the only box I've seen in town so, I bought it.

Nice find. I got a police trade in M&P myself and enjoy it very much. Good for you following through and returning the ring.

In this day and age I'd say you got a heck of a deal!
Good on you for returning the ring!

Today was the first day I went back to the shop where I bought the M&P. I asked the guy at the counter that I gave the ring to if they had returned it to the owners. He said they did, and it was a ring that belonged to the father in law of the guy who traded the gun in. He and has wife had been looking for it and thought it was lost for good.
They told him to say thanks to me.

All is well that ends well.
Sounds to me like you've got the makings of a good Christmas Story in there too, seeing how it all turned out.

Good job on returning the ring, hopefully it makes it back to the guy sleeping on the couch for losing his ring.
