Shield 45
I got my grubby paws on a Shield 45 2.0, 3 mags, night sights.
When I got it, I racked the slide a couple hundred times, then locked it back for a couple days.
I loaded the 3 mags and let 'em sit for a couple days too.
Then I did the old disassembly, cleaned it, lubed it, and put it back together.
Went to the range with 85 rounds of Winchester White Box 230gr. Black, sooty, nasty WWB. Made those orange mag followers look like they came out of a house fire.
No issues whatsoever.
I use the small white pie plates for a target. I think they're 6 inches. I'm cheap like that. Put a black magic marker spot in the middle of it and fire away.
I thought I missed the whole pie plate at 15 feet on the first shot, but when I walked up to look, it was a dead center hit on the black dot. The gun made me look good.
She's a beast. I like her

Welcome to the S&W Forums!
Glad you had a good experience with your S&W Shield 45 ACP. I am also a user of paper plate targets. My feeling is that if you can keep your hits on that relatively small plate, you are good to go.

They are awesome little guns. Here's my Shield 45 M2.0 that I bought this past June.
I recently bought 3 new magazines off eBay.
I only own two semi-autos, my Shield and a full size M&P 45.

Double congratulations on your new Shield 45 and on your first post. (Better late than never! ) IMHO, the Shield 45 is one of the finest small semi-autos available. Its accuracy with such a short barrel is astonishing. Here is a photo of one of my best targets with my Shield 45, 40 rounds at 15 yards, two hands, unsupported. Each square on the target is 1 inch, and the largest circle is 8 inches in diameter. You're going to enjoy blowing out the centers of your targets with your Shield!

My 45 Shield is my favorite handgun and my daily carry when not at work.

Congrats on your Shield 45. I'm sure you will really enjoy it. The Shield 45 is on my want list to go along with my Shield 9 and 40. Then I will have a trifecta.

Sounds like a nice gun. I have Shield 9mm and a full size M&P 45 and they have both been reliable.

I appreciate all your responses!
I see I joined this forum back in 2010. I tend to gravitate toward Gaston's line, but I'd always lurk around here, read the forums, etc.
This makes my 2nd Shield, I bought a 40 quite some time ago and always liked it.
I really like this Shield 45. I can see it entering the old carry rotation for sure
Thanks for the welcome!

I want one but they discontinued a bunch of Shields so I‘ll have to do an SKU search to see what’s available.

Nice 45
A great piece if you live in a 10 round state like me. I’d rather have 7rnd of 45 than 10 9mm.

Love my 45 Shield. Bought it a few months after they came out. Not a single failure. My wife even likes it better than her 9mm Shield, so she may steal it.

Just got back from shooting in the woods with my Shield .40 and my friends Shield .45.
I shot his better than mine.

I have great confidence in my .45 Shield, more than any other small pistol I've used.
It shoots like a full size, but carries like a sub compact.
Mine got S&W tan Cerakote, TFO sights, and a Lasermax green laser and light.
The trigger is great as it came from the factory.
BTW, you don't have to say "2.0" .45 Shield, as all .45 Shields ever made were 2 0, whether it says that on the slide or not.

I have both the regular .45 Shield and my recently acquired 4" Performance Center version (no ports or RMS cut). I'm very impressed with both and carry them a lot.

And unlike other 45 Smiths you don’t have to scrounge around for parts.

Unlike many of the metal receiver Smiths, you don't have to scrounge around for parts and that is the primary reason I am considering switching to something from the M&P line or ~gulp~ a Glock.

I'm having a hard time liking my Shield PC .45 with the ported slide and the fiber optic sights. I especially dislike those sights, which quickly get foul mounted there by the ports, and wish I had the version with conventional sights and the safety.
I'm still working on it, and as much as I like the caliber and slimness of the pistol I am torn between putting new sights on it, trading the whole thing for something else, or just sucking it up and get more practice and familiarization.

Couple of years ago I bought a Shield 45............Came home. Grabbed some hand loads and off to my personal range.........Bang Bang. NO errors. I wore it in shooting it. No slide locked back. No stuffed magazines lying around........It came home and went to work.
