Shield 2.0 Subcompact Magazine Question
I've owned my Performance Center Shield 9 2.0 for about a year. Turns out, at least for me, it's the most comfortable and accurate auto I own.
What was the point in S&W making that 7 round, flat bottom magazine? Was it just for concealment? I know I could change out the floor plate for a Pierce +1 or +2, but I haven't.
Someone here please scratch my itch.

It does conceal a little better than the 8 round mag. I always carry the 7 round magazine with a Magguts +2 spring kit. Gives me 9 +1 with only a quarter inch of added length.

Bozz10mm is right. 7 rounds conceals the best and that was the main reason to use this mag.
However with new holsters, different concealment options and garment new Shield Plus 10+1 conceals good as well.

Yep, what they said. Bear in mind there are many concealment options like fanny packs, ankle, pocket, purse, etc where a flush mag may be more suitable.

Shield 2.0 Subcompact Magazine Question
I disagree, the flat base is the spare mag. The mag with extension should be in the gun.
Because the Shield grip length is borderline acceptable for me I swapped out flat base for a finger rest

If I may ask, what brand "finger rest" did you purchase?
Thanks -

I use the NDZ Performance magazine floor plate finger extension on the 7 round magazine of my Shield 1.0. I really like it and they make a quality product.

I'm part of the minority who can comfortably Front Pocket Carry my Shield in Relaxed Fit Jeans with the 7-Round mag. The extended mag would make it to where I would not be able to. I use the MagGuts spring kit that gives me extra capacity.
I also shoot it better with the 7-Round mag than the 8. My etended mag lives in the gun box, virtually unused.
To each his/her/its own.

I'm right there with @RobzGuns. I front pocket carry my Shield 2.0 w/ the 7 round flat base mag in Duluthflex cargo pants. I have three 7-round mags, the 8 rounder ends up only used at the range.

Would this work on my Shield 2.0?

Like others have said, the 7-round is for concealment, however, I also find it uniquely comfortable. The 8-round is comfortable as well, but they feel very different.
I for one am not a big fan of the Magguts. I may have had a lemon, but I had problems with mine so I just run my Shield with OEM magazines.
I do have one Hyve +2 baseplate, but it's just for the range. I am perfectly fine carrying my Shield with 8 or 9 rounds. That's what most 1911 guys carry and I've never heard of someone losing a gunfight because their 1911 didn't have enough rounds.
In my opinion, if you can do without the sometimes obsessive urge to fit more cartridges into a smaller gun, you'll get much more gun for the money. I'm not trying to talk anyone out of a Shield Plus or other high capacity guns (I sometimes carry 20 rounds in my Beretta PX4 Storm Compact), I'm just making an observation. I am not likely to use my gun in a gunfight, and if I do, chances are I am never going to need more that 3 or 4 rounds (and it's almost certain 7+1 will be enough).
I look for all of the features I really want outside of capacity, and then worry about that (if I do at all). I bought my Shield two years after the P365 debuted, it just wasn't for me. That said, I am also a big DA/SA guy, so if someone comes out with a decent modern DA/SA that is Shield-size or smaller, I'll probably get that.
