Default Shield Plus

Does anyone know if the Shield Plus is optimized for a particular bullet weight?
My new Plus shoots 4-5" high, with a 147 grain subsonic load, that I run through all my 9MMs.
This 147 gr. load shoots point of aim out of my gen 1 Shield, my Gen 1 M&P, my 2.0 Compact 3.6", and my 5" 2.0 (as well as other brands).
I tried some 124 grain service loads and that brought the group down some, but it's still high.

Start with trigger control first. As you can notice, Plus has a different trigger which may force you to break your grip used on other pistols.

What is the distance you get 4-5" high shots?

I really don't think it's a trigger control issue. My buddy and I are both 35 year LE veterans with close to 50 years, between us, as instructors & armorers. We both shot it and experienced the same thing.
Then we both benched it and it still shot high. We were shooting at 30 ft.
Nice tight group, just high. I realize it's a self defense pistol and from a practical standpoint, the grouping is more than adequate.

I asked about bullet weight, because I have a 25-5 (.45 Colt) that shoots high with 250 gr bullets but shoots point of aim with 200 or 185 grainers, at higher velocity.

I shot Lawman, 115, 124, 147, at 25 ft. Standing two hands. The 124 was slightly but noticeably better then the 147 for me out of my Shield Plus. The 115 wasn't bad just not as good.

hmmm. that's interesting.
I've never found any issue with any handgun shooting any ammo within 30 feet.
Yes, of course there might be a issue with new handgun but usually everything comes back to normal within 500 rounds.

I'm sorry, I cannot find any clear explanation why you get high shots other that user error, or wrong sight setup then.

Sometimes it's the luck of machining tolerances. My new Kimber micro-9 was the same, 3-4" high at 10 yards. Front sight needed to be .040" taller but Kimber only makes two sizes and the taller one was .010" less than I needed. I ended up making my own in the shop and it's perfect now. Thankfully Dawson makes lots of sights for the Shield so if S&W doesn't make the right one, or won't send you one, that's the route I'd be taking.

By the way, my new Ruger Max-9 shoots 2" high also, however I have a red-dot on the way so I won't worry about the sights.

Sorry to resurrect a 6+ month old thread, but my Performance Center Shield Plus also shoots 4-5" high. I'm going to contact S&W & hopefully they can take care of it.

A taller front sight might help.
