M&P 40c
I am looking at a M&P 40c. Born 2011, so original pre 2.0.
I have shot a number of full size 40 Glocks. I like them, but no experience with compacts.
I've been researching the gun. I see little here about it. I'd like to know what the general consensus is on the M&P 40c among the folks here. In particular, what should I know about differences between the original and 2.0?
What about shooting the compact 40 vs full size?
What's a fair price between friends?
Any miscellaneous thoughts outside of the above, is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Here's a thread I started about my long-term experience with my M&P semi-autos, including my 2014 1.0 M&P 40c. It won't answer all of your questions, but I think you'll find it useful.
Long-Term Report on M&P 40c, Shield 9, & Shield 45

I love the 40c, my most carried gun. In a milt sparks VMII it is very comfortable and I believe 10 rounds with a back up mag is plenty.

I bought a 40c when they first came out, 2007 I think, and I still have it. Not as fancy as the later offerings with their fancy trigger resets and optic options, just a good solid gun that shoots well IMO. The short grip takes a little getting used to but it sure carries nicely.

I own one and like it a lot. Once the SIG P365 came out it does not get much carry time.

Well, mostly the Gen (2.0) trigger is considered an upgrade. And if you can find the 357 SIG barrel for it all you need is ammo. The 9mm conversion barrels used to be much (?) easier to get, then a 9mm magazine will give you that as a very viable option, as well. A grip adaptor makes extended capacity simple using full size magazines.
The nice thing about the (1.0) version is that all the extensive aftermarket sights, triggers, magazines, etc., for the full size version all work as well. Holsters, lights & lasers too.
Very accurate & reliable, really not that much bigger than the new Shield Plus (IMHO) as far as CC is concerned...
As far as price is concerned, in today's market WHO KNOWS? I wouldn't think $100 less than a 2.0 unreasonable for a clean one, more so if you are interested in upgrading the trigger: mine works just great as-is, and I have an Agency Arms/Apex one I can drop-in later if needs be.
Cheers!

I've had a 1.0 40c since 2016, I am in MA so had to get an apex trigger and put on truglos. MA has a 10lbs pull. The Apex fixed that. I picked up a 2.0 40c just before Covid hit. Its nice and had a free state trigger. I have not doen any updates to it as it handles and shoots well. The larger frame makes it a bit harder to conceal than the 1.0.
Both are exceptional reliable pistols.

Having shot both 40 S&W Glocks and M&P's, I find the Smiths to be softer shooters. Maybe it's the grip angle or just the rounder shape of the grip on the Smith's but to me they just don't feel as harsh to me.
