There were actually two, .40 G&A's. One was based on the 30 Remington case and another, called the .40 G&A Magnum, was based on the 224 Weatherby belted case. The 10mm was based on the .40 G&A that used the 30 Remington case and was Cooper's attempt to magnumize it. The G&A 40's were originally chambered in a Browning HiPower. I've never read Corrillo's book so I'm not prepared to say "he got it wrong" but the 40 S&W is based on the 10mm which is based on the .40 G&A.

I would get it if it had regular sights. I see that the regular M&P sight will not fit the M&P 10mm Rear dovetail.

The big question now is: When are they going to be shipped out to the
distributors?

There are reviews of the new pistol on YouTube. If you watch them I will bet they test the gun with the hot ammo.

It was on the Smith website.

XDM has a lot of goodies for the 10mm handloader at no extra charge:
1. Standard rifling; good for hardcast bullets (Glock isn't).
2. Mirror polished chamber and barrel, like a 686. Good for hardcast bullets (Glock isn't).
3. Mirror polished feed ramp, good for . . . . .
4. Fully supported chamber, can handle 10mm spec handloads.
You get the idea. I expect the Smith to have standard rifling.

true but the xdm trigger is really meh. I do have a springfield mod2 that I like however

SORRY FOR YELLING BUT MY ONE CONCERN, SMITH AND WESSON'S SCREWS THEY SHIP TO MOUNT RED DOT IS 5/64 INCH AND CAN ONLY BE TORQUED DOWN 10 INCH POUNDS! IF YOU GET A SIG ROMEO1 PRO, SIG RECOMMENDS 30 INCH POUNDS. THAT SAID I DO NOT SEE ANY RED DOT STAYING ZEROED VERY LONG WITH THIS MODEL.

A little birdie told me this pistol was developed and tested with full power loads and RDS's to test the reliability of both... we will just have to see if that is the case.

Has anyone done a 25 yard hole-punching on paper yet?
I am curious about the accuracy of their 10mm on the 2.0 platform.

Just picked up my 4” no safety version and brought it home and installed a Swampfox Liberty red dot sight. I switched out the medium grip for the Med-Large and it feels great. Can’t wait to shoot it

This guy did an early review on the new M&P 10mm and he appears to be very knowledgeable and he knows how to perform a review.
He fired 4x5 shot groups @25 yards with a red dot sight and the results are outstanding. I'm not quite ready to jump on one yet, but if this is the norm and not a one off, I'll be purchasing more M&P's and not just 10mm's.
I haven't posted here for awhile...I hope I get this right.

I'm old enough to remember reading about the .40 G&A in gun rags. I don't know how I remember that after 40 years, but maybe because I was then just getting into shooting and loading and was soaking up everything. Sure enough, there was a .40 G&A.

I hope I don’t walk into a gun shop and see one of the 4.6-inchers with thumb safety for sale at a reasonable price.
