New M&P 10mm and 9mm...where and when?

I'm pretty excited about the new M&P 10mm, so much in fact that I pre-ordered the 4" w/ thumb safety from sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com. I only did that because I couldn't find it anywhere else.

Secondly, I'm excited about the new M&P 2.0 9MM they just released with the upgraded trigger and optics cut. I can't find the 9mm anywhere, not even a pre-order option.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone ever dealt with pre-ordering a S&W product from an online retailer and if so, how long did it take before it was finally shipped to your ffl? I'm trying to guess on how long it will be before I get the 10mm.

2. Does anyone know of anywhere I could purchase the new 9mm release, or at least pre-order it? I'm looking to replace my current edc and I was going to go with the Shield Plus but just heard about the new M&P 9mm on Nov 23rd and it just looks beautiful.

One of our forum members was able to shoot the 10mm but they are not currently shipping to stores. I don't think there is an ETA for either the 10mm or new 9mm versions at this time. I was told by a local dealer that you can't place orders with Smith for either pistol as of now. If a local FLL actually takes your money for a pre-order just be aware that he might not be able to order anything as of now. You might not be buying a place in line, you might just be giving your FFL an interest free loan with an unknown due date.

I'll probably test drive the 10mm at the 2021 SHOT Show media day.

If memory serves me, They show off new items at the Shot Show, but don't actually start shipping new platforms before March (sometimes, a Month or MORE later). Don't expect to see anyone actually advertising 'In Stock' earlier than March.

Do you have a local LGS/FFL? If so, get your Pre-Order refunded and get to be close friends with your LGS. They will know when S&W is shipping before anyone else

PLUS !!! Don't expect to see Spare mags for your new 10mm until Four to Six Months after the pistol gets released!
Think I'm kidding? Go back and see when the Shield Plus got released and when the Spare mags actually started showing up.

PLEASE Don't be one of 'Those Guys' that rush out to be the 1st one to get the new platform, only to whine about 'No Spare Mags'.

I got an email from S&W this morning about the new 10mm M&P. I clicked on the email and it took me to a page where I could configure one. After doing that, I clicked on the "Buy Now" button and was taken to a "Sorry, We Can't Find the Server" page. I noticed that in the address window, the crack programmers at S&W had inserted an extra "https//". When I removed that, I got to the "Buy Now" page, but it just said "Out of Stock" or "Find a Local Dealer". Since "Local Dealers" don't have them yet, I had to wonder what the point of the email was, other than to stir up demand. However, IMHO, annoying and frustrating potential customers with empty web pages and non-existent products is not an effective way of creating a demand. I hope S&W's new 10mms are built better than their advertising campaign.

Yeah I did check my local ffls fist but thy said new products always go to the large online distributors first and retail gets them last. I would prefer to support my LGS.

I talked to a couple of S&W reps and one told me the 10mm's are being shipped out daily but to who? If I have to wait until after shot show, that's a bummer.

I did just pick up one of the new m&p 9's about 5 minutes ago. Buds gun shop.com has 10 in stock, well 9 now

I just chatted with Roy Huntington. Smith is sending him a 10mm to try out. He'll let me know ASAP of his impressions.

These are out now, my local shop received 3 yesterday.
Available both with and without a safety lever (very much like a 1911 in location, and it's ambi), it's not the small hard-to-use version as found on the Shield.
The grip texture is fairly aggressive, not sure I'm going to like it with hot 10MM loads, but that can be fixed with light gloves, which I would wear anyway when out hiking (that's my mission for this gun).
Not a bad package, I'll post a shooting report in a couple weeks when my state 10 day "hold" is satisfied...
