Default M&P Shield EZ 2.0 Broken Back Plastic Piece

Tiny plastic piece on the top of the handle lip where the slide meets is broken off. Now there is a little hole where it was supposed to be. Doesn’t really look like it had much use, maybe to keep in gas or sparks? Just wondering if it was safe to shoot. 6th picture frame on the url shows the plastic piece clearly its vertical and its connected to the top lip of the handle.

That is an awkward piece of the frame to break off and it was probably not easy to do.

The protrusion of the frame was meant to largely fill in the triangular cut in the back of the slide that passes around the ejector when the slide is removed. While gases could certainly pass through the hole where the piece has broken off, it is probably not significant in the least. Even with the piece intact, there is a gap between the frame and slide through which gases can escape. And as soon as the slide starts moving rearward, there is a huge open space where the bottom rear of the slide overhangs the frame and gases can escape.

If it were my M&P I would contact S&W and have them replace the frame. It does have a LIFETIME WARRANTY.
GOOD LUCK, and keep us posted!
