Default Advice on deciding on m&p for matches

Good afternoon all.

Im going to get back into my 2 gun style matches soon and looking to pick up another m&p. I carry a shield + and a m&p 4" compact optics ready.

I use to run the FDE 5" m&p years ago and loved it, but running an optic, I dont know if going back to a 5" is really worth it.

Im most torn on the compact vs full size frame. since my 15 round mags fit my compact and the 4-5 17 round mags I have, all have the sleeve on them. If I grab a full size, then Im having to seperate mags. No biggie.. but something to consider.

ALSO... Having a hard time deciding 4"-4.25"

Most shooting is duty style, out to 50 yards with some silhouette targets at 100...

Looking to hear some opinions.

The 17-round mag with the spacer is the same grip as the full-size. Unless you’re looking for a reason to buy another gun, all you’d need to do is make sure those sleeves don’t slide up or they’ll mess with your reloads.

Since you have a dot, you might want to check the accuracy of your particular pistol to see if it’ll make the longer distance type shots that are representative of your matches.

Forgot to add: going full-size makes mag extensions easier without the sleeve, and that could give you 23-rounds per mag.

I like my guns to match as closely as possible which is why I two M&P 4.25” 9mm. That makes muscle memory and brain imaging easier.

I did think about the spacers and reloading, some of the courses Ive ran in the past had very short time spans to complete and I thought grabbing a mag from my side may end up moving the sleeve and causing a delay on the reload.

& I am always looking for a reason to buy another gun lol.

I found a decent price on the Spec series kit... Seemed pretty cool with everything it came with.

Ill probably sell the crimson optic to fund a holosun 508t
