Hi,
I'm looking at an M&P Shield 45ACP Performance center M2.0 barrel with High Viz sights and 3.3" ported barrel with box and docs and is being sold via private sale.
The sale price ($525) is close to the S&W list price.
What would be a fair price for this Shield 45 ACP?
Thanks

Rather depends upon the used gun market in your area, how bad you want it and how bad the seller needs cash & how much. Rule of thumb is that a previously owned gun is worth no more than wholesale. You might start at $375-400 and see what happens.

That depends on you.

Gun.deals lists some cheaper, but with tax, shipping and transfer fees could end up the same or even more money.

I guess is would depend on the condition and the seller's incentive to sell it (willing to negotiate) and how badly you want one.

No shipping or transfer fee in my state for a face to face sale, but I would have to travel close to 200 miles (round trip) for the face to face meeting, show ID and Carry License.

Forgot to mention that there are 2 extra 7 round Mags for a total of 4 mags and these things ain't cheap at $32.
The photos look good and beg for a personal visit but at a 200 mile round trip with gas prices way up. Anyway here are some pics.

Well, the rest of the story.
The gun remains unsold and has been relisted 3 times since I found the ad.

There is no way in earth that I’d drive 200 miles to pay retail for a common firearm. Something incredibly rare, or priced low enough to justify both my time and expenses? Sure. As for value I can say that it really does appear that used gun values differ from one place to the next considerably. In my part of the country, a lightly used, popular firearm generally doesn’t lose much, if any of its value when being sold second hand. In fact, it is not uncommon to see certain models of popular firearms being sold used for a bit more than you can find them new.

I suspect that part of the reasoning for that is because face to face private party sales are legal here with no paperwork required, and a lot of people do place value on the ability to own firearms that their name is not attached to on any government form/database/etc. I’d say the gun you described would be a $450 pistol all day long in my area, and might even bring a bit more being a Performance Center model with additional factory magazines.

Gallery of Guns shows this available in my area for $540 delivered including taxes, fees, and a lifetime REPLACEMENT warranty. No question in my book. I've used them, including that warranty, and have nothing but praise for them.

The Person selling the Shield has relisted it twice since I first found it for a total of 3 listings, possibly even more.
A 45 ACP, 2nd Gen Shield competing with the new Shield plus just is not priced to sell IMHO.

I ended up getting a "New" Shield plus for $399. LOL, Used ones are going for more.

True, here in Ga it is the same way in many cases.
