The wife has a purple SCCY with a red dot sight and pink Hogue grips on her 3" Model 36. Other than that, we have no interest in color polymer grip frames.

What I've seen is that some folks like to collect guns that are "just like" the guns issued to the military. Others pick up an odd color because it was all they had at the LGS, and some just want a unique frame because it will likely be a conversation starter among friends. To each his own, I guess. I'm not a fan, but I'm glad the firearms companies make them for those who are. Anything that draws more folks to the various shooting sports or for self defense is fine by me.

MUCH more tactical sounding that "Tan". Kinda like "Jungle" sounds better than "Green".
Me-I'm good with black for my plastic (hides the dirt better) and stainless for my steel guns. I am a simple man with simple tastes.
Hell, I bought an AK47 just to piss people off.

I strongly regret not buying one at the $1100 they were offered for initially on "gunbroker gold".

One of the first rules of writing: When using an acronym for the first time, the complete meaning should be used, with the acronym in parentheses for subsequent use.

I don't care for FDE guns. Perhaps if I was in the desert, but I'm not. The thing that I don't understand about calling them FDE is that the finish is often not flat, certainly not dark and doesn't look like earth to me. I think SLS (semigloss light sand) would be a better acronym.

I'm not sure either. It is my understanding that the guns that were returned to Colt had finish issues. Colt decided to replace those guns rather then refinish them. They eventually sold them in used condition to a dealer or distributor who then sold them on GB. I never found out who that was. I don't think it was ever disclosed. The cost to the military was about $1200/ea, an astronomical price for a pistol contract today.

I considered buying one but they went pretty fast and were bid up beyond what I thought was a reasonable price in that condition. I was probably wrong.

fde is a common acronym in the gun world. it is the term most people use when referencing it.

black guns give an aggressive and angry energy. fde guns are more laid back, not wanting to stand out and just blending into the background. every gun related item i have is in fde, like the holsters, gun belt, magazine base plates, etc because they blend in with the earth tones clothes i wear. i don't wear dark colored clothes because, again, it's violent and aggressive. i want to make guns more like any other item, i don't want them to be associated with black ops angry navy seals who want to kill you. imo fde guns are hacking the liberal's brains, we need to hack it more to make them stop having knee jerk reactions. in short, fde guns trigger people less, they blend in more with clothes, environment, skin, they make guns seem more like every day tools you would use.

I happen to have taken a screenshot of one of the sales of these from 2017 (definitely a closed auction ). The seller was Gold Deals from Lancaster, PA. They have been inactive since 2018 and had quite a bit of negative feedback during a period of time when they were active. Don't know if the site contracted their membership sales out to them.

I ordered a Girsan MC P-35 from Sportsman's Warehouse a couple of months ago. I ordered the two tone, black/silver color. They sent me one in FDE. I guess they ran out of the black/silver. I suppose I could have sent it back, but it really wan't bad looking in hand, and I've grown to like it now.

Of course, I've owned a couple of pink and purple guns over the years too.

I have considered wearing clothing in similar color with my firearm before to decrease contrast in case it peaks out. I prefer no one to see my weapon unless it is needed.

I have a black AR with FDE stock, grip, and handguard and it looks OK and I got a great deal on it but FDE is not my favorite color. I have another black AR with gray furniture and it looks a little better but I would not want the metal parts on ANY gun colored anything besides black, blue, or stainless. Do they even make nickle guns any more? They are actually the prettiest when they're brand new.

Actually the better acronym is PPB like we called that one Crayola Crayon in the box that we gave to our little brother along with the white one when our mother said share.
