Default M&P 2.0 Full Size Optic Ready Questions

I want to get a full size M&P and install a Holosun 508T without using an adapter plate. Do the Full Size Optic Ready slides have a specific footprint that allows installation of an RDS without the half dozen or so plastic plate that come with it?

I sent a Optics Ready Shield Plus to a machine shop to remove the rear lugs and shave down the front lugs so that I could install a Holosun 407k without an adapter plate. I am really pleased how this turned out and I don't think I would be happy with an adapter plate. I may end up sending a full size slide to get machined but I would rather not.

As far as I know (AFAIK), NO. There are recoil lugs on the slide that do not match any optic. The slot is also long enough to accommodate different length optics. So the plate not only needs to match the RDS footprint, but fill any gaps that a shorter RDS would leave.

The Holosun 508T uses the Trijicon RMR footprint.

The only other option is to look for an M&P 1.0 RMR plate as they metal, or buy an non RDS 2.0 slide and have it milled.

You could always buy a CHPWS plate.

The CHPWS plate eliminates the need for the plastic SW plate supplied with the gun. The optic then sits a bit lower on the slide. I have a Steiner MPS optic with CHPWS plate this combo works great.

Thanks guys! I did not consider that the factory cut and plastic plates also compensate for the different lengths of red dots which kind of makes sense. I will most likely buy what I want and send the slide out to get machined for an RMC footprint.

Not using the factory adaptor plate only to mill a stock slide is a waste of money and time. The plastic adaptor plates work well if only you will try one .

Are you saying the CHPWS plate is thinner than the factory plastic plates?

The plate is aluminum. I did not need to use it with the factory plate there fore the optic sat lower on the slide I had to make a minor adjustment on the optic. The factory plastic plates do work fine. The CHPWS adaptor plates are overly expensive, I got mine before they raised the price.
