Default Picked up MP40c from FFL

Picked up my new S&W MP 40c from the FFL this afternoon. Had ordered it from Bud's. Looking at the spent cartridge and it is dated 10-04-2012 . So it has been setting on a shelf somewhere for the last 2 1/2 years ..

Field stripped it at the FFL and was dry as a bone, we couldn't find and oil any where on the action, is this the norm for a new pistol from S&W. I have heard where some have had to clean theirs before being able to fire. Ran a patch around on the surfaces inside, inside of barrel, and patch came up clean and dry no oil discoloration on the patch. Thinking no oil was used on this one when assembled.

Trigger is pretty bad to start off with, will oil everything tonight before shooting it tomorrow. Wondering now if I got the up grade trigger that was suppose to be used I believe sometime in 2012-13, does anyone know ??

On the cartridge envelope there is one line that says "Rifling Char : 5 RH " I'm wondering what this means .

I believe the newer trigger bar is marked with an "H".
When I picked up my 40c it was also dry and according to the fired cartridge it was only one month out of the factory.
BTW, mine was fired in 10/13 and it has the "H" trigger bar.

I see a "H" stamped on the trigger bar near the front.

Trigger feels very gritty and can really feel the imperfections in the pull. The reset can be heard but really have to listen for it and the reset feel is slight also .. Feels like your pulling over a serrated edge .. not happy with it right now at all !

Pistol in hand feels good not sure which back strap I will use. the small feels too small though so will start with the middle one for now ..

Trigger is much worse then my Berretta was as new, before being broke in, hope this one gets a lot better with rounds spent down range or a trigger job will be done in a month or so ..

Most put in the Apex FSS kit. I did on my 40c and absolutely love the Apex fss kit. In my opinion it made a world of difference. it comes in a polymer or metal trigger, with either a 4lb or 5lb spring. I would suggest it.

I put the FSS in mine also, but it was because of the Mass required 10.5lb trigger pull. The "grittiness" in the takeup didn't bother me, the break was crisp and I never really thought much about the reset; I just couldn't live with the pull.
I do love the FSS though. It'll never be a 1911 but its close.

I'd like to put in the Apex Flat-Faced Forward Set Sear & Trigger Kit "BUT" trigger pull is 3 to 4 pounds and I conceder that too light for carry. I've written them and asked if there was a spring combination that could be used to bring the trigger pull up 5-5.5 pounds and haven't received a rely yet . I would like the flat trigger. But if that isn't possible l will put in the Apex M&P Aluminum Forward Set Sear and Trigger Kit instead. That kit makes the trigger 5 pounds.

I just e-mailed them 6-19-15 so don't expect a reply till end of next week.

You might consider Apex's DCAEK (Duty/Carry action enhancement kit) I'm not sure if it is compatible with the trigger you want, but it comes with a choice of springs.

I just got a 9c a few weeks ago. My trigger is a little gritty. I am also concedering the Apex FSS & the Aluminum trigger kit. I want the pull around 5 - 5.5 lbs.

Sounds like we pretty much have and want the same thing, except I'd like to put in the red flat trigger in and I'm doing in 40. I shot a flat trigger in a rifle when I was in Alaska and with a crisp break they are nice to squeeze . But I may have to go with the Apex FSS & the Aluminum trigger kit like you ! I want the 5 to 5.5 trigger pull also .

Will see if Apex can set me up with spring combination to use the Red trigger and stay at 5 to 5.5 pound pull ...
