I know this is a S&W forum but need some assistance. I am thinking I need a M&P 9c, or a Glock 19. I will carry it CCW, have carried a Sig 239, but the M&P & G-19 seems much lighter. How do the M&Pc rate with the Glock 19, etc. Tell me the pro's and con's. Should I stay witht he Sig. I am individual, not law enforcement, etc. Any information is appreciated. Thanks!!

my answer is to get the one that fits your hand the best. For some, (me included) a Glock has the wrong grip angle for me. The M&P has an interchangeable set of backstrap grips to make it fit almost anyone and may still qualify for a set of free magazines from S&W. (check the website for exp. dates) S&W customer service is second only to Dillon in my opinion.
Your Sig is a great firearm as well. If it is comfortable and you shoot it well, like the single stack capacity you have a winner.
My own M&P .40 Full Size has over 12,000 rounds downrange without a malfunction of ANY kind, plus the trigger keeps on getting better and better. I like made in USA products but own non US firearms as well.
It is all about fit first...Let's see what others have to say..

I had to carry a Glock as it was the issue sidearm, but I find the M&P much more comfortable. I have a M&P9c; normally I carry it with a full size 17 round magazine and a X-grip adapter. If I need more concealment, I swap to a flat base 12 round magazine. I don't own a Glock, so I guess you can figure out my preference.

I've got a M&P 9 mm full size, and I just want to echo what the other two posters said.
Glock didn't fit my hand, M&P does, my M&P has been very reliable.
And I like the American made feature too.
Not bashing Glocks, except for the grip shape. They're great pistols.

I love my MP9C. Like others have noted the three back straps it comes with assures a good fit. Mine has been 100% reliable and a lot of fun to shoot. Makes an excellent choice for CCW. I have no experience with a Glock but can't imagine being happier with any other than the Smith.

Don't sell your 239.
You will regret it.
Both the Glock 19 and the M&P 9c are good guns.
I like the Glock 19 because it holds more rounds and is only slightly larger.
I think the M&P 9c has a better option for Crimson Trace laser grips however, which might sway me.

When I was going for my first 9MM, my first polymer, and first hi-cap all at the same time I was sort of stunned by the process. I asked all here the same questions and was told just exactly what's been said here. The G-19 turned out (for me) to have the best ergonomics of that brands product line. The Sig (250) had the best all around. The S&W product (M&P9c) I felt was the second best all around ergo's. I confess, I bought the S&W out of sentiment and loyalty. I've not been disappointed for a minute. The action and trigger quality have improved consistently with use. The accuracy all along has been amazing. If they still offer the 2 mag rebate, you may want to get 2 of the 17 rounders (yes they fit!) and the grip adapters. Then you'll have 2-12's, and 2-17's. They're all fine guns though, so it's pretty hard to go far wrong!

Bought a used glock 32 back in the early 00's, mainly to see what all the hype was about.I think I've done every mod known to make that gun "fit." Still no luck. Flatened the back strap, romoved finger groves, and ground the trigger guard where it meets the frame. This has to be the most ackward hand gun made to date. Very hard, for me,to shoot well, and that is after 3K+ rounds! Got this little 39-2 that will run rings around the glock, agian for me. Handling the MP-9- feels like Smith built it "just for me". Doesn't get any better than that! Price has ranged from $424 (Net) to $615 local.

Not to make the choice more confusing, but have you thought about a Kahr? The CW9 is a nice little shooter and more compact and easier to carry than either the Glock or M&P. It has only 8 rounds, which for some might not be enough but what it lacks in capacity, for me, it makes up with concealment. It is not much smaller than a G26, but it carries/conceals a lot easier and the mags are small enough to carry another if need be.

If you are considering the 19, I would also look at the full size M&P9

I've carried a 19 or a 23 for years and think they're great all-round pistols. Grip angle with a Glock has never been an issue for me. My experience with the MP is limited to a box of ammo thru a full sized 40 and the 45 I bought two months age. I like them both. My employer recently authorized the MP series for carry, so if they put the Smiths thru the same extremely abusive testing that the Glocks went thru, I'm confident that the guns are reliable. Boils down to preference. The MP9c by virtue of being smaller might be more versitile to carry. You can't go wrong with either.

SW44,
While I've not fired a large number of them out of it, (500) the reloaded 9X19 lead I've run through mine (M&P9c) have caused no issues. But I tend towards being anal on cleaning? Here's the link to the adapter that allows the use of the 17 round mag's, in the compact.

(EDIT) Apologies, I continue to fail to mention another one of my favorite things about the M&P line? It also doesn't have a climbers spike shape trigger guard! I'm ambivalent on the light mount, but the large internal dimension of the guard W/O that idiot hook is a blessing!

I have had a G19/23/32 in the past and find that I can shoot them well enough. I was going to buy a new G17 a couple of years ago. Before The check went through, a fellow I deal with regularly at the gun shop I use handed me a M&P 9mm and said, "Have you handled one of these?". I wound up leaving the shop with the M&P. I have shot it extensively and I have no regrets about the choice I made. I would gladly trade my remaining Glocks for similar M&P's

It's all about ergos. For me, the Sig was a little thin and boxy at the grip. The Glock? Let's just say I no longer own any. They can be a fine firearm but frankly it seems to me that I don't see many getting much practice time, civilian or LEO. I think they've been awfully trendy for the last few years. Neither of my Glocks fit my hand as well as either my full size or compact 9mm M&Ps. I also have a compact 45 M&P that feels great in the hand. Again, it's all very personal when it comes to fit and total ergonomics.
Aside from all this, how do you feel about going to a DAO, striker-fired pistol from a DA/SA? If you're really used to not just the firing, but the total experience/habits with a DA/SA, you will likely find the M&P a much different animal. Like a Glock, unless you opt for an external safety, anytime the trigger goes back, it goes boom.
Which ever way you go, spend time with them and get some outside training so you can make your ammo costs count for you rather than just throw things down range.
Be safe-
bj

Thanks for all the information you have offered on the pistols. Still not made a decision. I have looked at the Kahr, CW-9, and dont really like the feel. Thanks again for all the information!!
