Is the M&P platform strong enough for hot 10mms?

Seems to me that handling 10mm all comes down to the weight of the slide and the strength of the recoil spring. Add enough mass up above, and spring it properly, and the frame should be no problem.

IIRC the Glock 20 (10mm) was designed first, then the Glock 21 (45) was based on the same frame with a lighter slide. Don't see a reason why S&W could do the opposite and come up with a 10mm M&P.

IMHO ant manufacturer who comes out with a new design for .45 ACP must at some point, even in the darkest area of their minds that they don't like to talk about, have considered a dual caliber application.

Remember, slide weight and spring rate are the key!

The frame where the spring tucks in may need a little extra beef to keep it from being battered by the extra spring power.

S&W would do well to sell the M&P 10mm as a kit with barrels for 10mm/40S&W/357Sig/9X25Dillon this would make me a happy man! Heck I'd be happy if I had a 357Sig barrel to round out the 4 cartridge run for my 1006!

I hear the 610's will be discontinued soon for lack of sales.

It can be done! But will it is the question! Only time will tell!

I would think so. If S&W did offer a 10mm M&P, I would hope they would do what H&K has done and use a recoil buffer system.

I have a pre-IL 610. I would like to have a 3" or even a 4" 610, but not with the IL. Gotta wonder how well the 610 would be selling now if the lock were to disappear.

Anyone hear any rumors if a 10mm M&P Compact would be in the future plans? If so, I'm waiting!

If a Glock can handle the 10mm I'm sure the M&P can!! It would definitely sell. I love my .357 sig model.

I'm considering a M&P40c, but would prefer 10mm.

Double Tap ammo makes a 200gr hard cast 40 load that would be a nice woods load for small black bear (they don't make a hard cast load fof 357 Sig).

But 10mm would be better!
