Default Got my new M&P9C, range results, and want adjustable rear site recommendations!

What a fantastic gun! I got it this past Thursday, took it apart, looked everything over and it looked great. I noticed that the feed ramp looked partially polished like another poster had mentioned. I took pics and will post them when I get them downloaded. The center of the feed ramp looked shiny and polished while the sides were black.

So, moving forward to this morning, I took it to the range and went through about 120 rounds of Remington 115 grain target stuff, and some Winchester hollow points I had around. I didn't have a single FTF or FTE, and the gun just worked great. I am actually very surprised at how low the recoil is, almost to a point where I feel like I should worry! I had no problem using the flat bottomed mag as well as the one with the pinkie extension. I don't think anything is wrong really, but it is SO easy to shoot without much recoil, it is amazing. My 9mm Hi-Power practical makes quite a bit more recoil, and it is an all metal gun, but it does have a 5 inch barrel or so, so that may be the main difference.

Some other guys out there were shooting some new "Hi Point" guns which are apparently some of the most affordable guns out there. They paid under $200 for their 9mm version. It was huge, bulky, and ugly. I let them shoot through a mag with my gun and they were surprised by it as well. They actually loved the trigger, but they didn't like the fact that it was a compact.

No, my next step is that I think I would like an adjustable rear site--one with an adjuster screw as opposed to having to move the whole rear site in the dovetail. Anybody have any good recommendations for that?

How did you shoot? No judgements whatsoever, but why do you think you need an adjustable rear sight? Just curious as a fellow happy MP9C owner.

Glad you like your M&P9C. Curious about the desire for an adjustable sight....it's not designed as a target pistol, but as a close in self-defense gun.

My adjustable sight is a Crimson Trace laser:

I would like an adjustable rear site because it (or I) was shooting slightly to the lower left consistantly. For a 3.5" barrel, the gun is surprisingly accurate in my opinion. I am just a little anal and I would like to tweak it to get it perfect. I do realize I could just aim a little high and right but I would rather get the sights adjusted.

I too have a M&P9c Heckeng (BTW WELCOME!)
A R/H shooter grouping low and left, typically is the shooter pushing downward on the muzzle, in anticipation of the recoil. The fact that your grouping well is because your being consistent in your sighting. Your squeeze and/or follow through may be causing your rounds to land L/L?
BTW: your fellow shooters may have found fault with your 9c's size, merely because it out classed their selection in every other area!

I agree on the smith out classing their guns, they looked and felt horrible to me! It was actually pretty funny how bad they felt!

I will try and pay attention to any muzzle anticipation I have going on. I am not a perfect shooter by any means, but I do consider myself a pretty decent shot. Now that you mention recoil anticipation, I am used to having more recoil from my Hi Power, so I wonder if I am still trying to shoot that gun when I was firing the Smith? Looks like I need to go have some more fun with the new gun and fine tuning my shooting!

Update, here is the pic of the barrel ramp that I think is partially polished. This is before any shots were fired through it other than from the factory.

Congrats on your purchase. I just bought one yesterday and will hopefully try 'er out today.
Love the M&P45 so much decided it needed company. BTW, Spotteddog is correct about anticipating recoil (pushing) causing lower left hits for a righthander.
Now, anyone know where I can get extra magazines?

I'm glad you like the M&P 9c.. I still have a love/hate relationship with mine.. I also shoot low left, only with the M&P.. It was pointed out that the M&P is the only Double Action only gun I regularly use, so I have been working on my trigger control, and grip. After dry firing a bit, I found I was curling my finger around the trigger, when I should have been pressing back..
I am going to get red FO sights for the front, and plain black for the back, because I like that set-up..
Good Luck.

The CT lasers for the M&P line may be the best ever integration of a laser into a handgun grip.

I have found that for some reason the more I practice with my M&P, the more accurate it becomes. It always shot Low & Left, even right out of the box, but after a couple of thousand rounds it shoots straight and true. Guess it finally corrected itself...

Couldn't have been me...........
